Flying South 2016- Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry Contest
Deadline: May 31, 2016 

$2000 in prizes. From March 1 to May 31, Flying South 2016, a publication of Winston Salem Writers, will be accepting entries for prizes in Fiction, Nonfiction, and Poetry. Best in Category winners will be published and receive $500 each. One of the three winners will receive The WSW President's Favorite award and win an additional $500. Saturday, March 12, Winston Salem Writers will sponsor author, editor and educator Chris Roerden “The Real Difference Between Showing and Telling, and How To Make It Work in Your Writing.”  The workshop will be held from 1-3 PM at the Milton Rhodes Arts Center. Chris Roerden has edited authors published by St. Martin’s, Tor-Forge, Berkley Prime Crime, Harlequin, Viking, Midnight Ink, and others over a 50-year career. She wrote 11 books, including two to help writers get published: Don’t Murder Your Mystery (Agatha Award) and its all-genre clone Don’t Sabotage Your Submission (Benjamin Franklin Award).

Spring Conference

The North Carolina Writers’ Network 2016 Spring Conference will be held Saturday, April 23, in the MHRA Building on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Since 1977 Willow Springs has published the finest in contemporary fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Willow Springs publishes work by unknown and up and coming writers, and by U.S. Poet Laureates and Pulitzer Prize winners, engaging our readers in an ongoing discussion of art, ideas, and the human experience. Women's Work Call for Submissions
Deadline: March 15

In May, 2016, Tennessee Women’s Theater Project will present the Tenth Annual edition of Women’s Work, our festival and celebration of works created by women. Each year we present the work of women playwrights, poets, singers and musicians, essayists, circus performers, painters, filmmakers, dancers and choreographers and photographers from across Tennessee and across the country. This is our call for submissions for Women’s Work 2016. Women's Work runs three weekends, from May 6 to 22, 2016, with a different program on each performance date. Mother's Day (May 8) is traditionally Poetry Sunday. Click HERE for more information. 



 
Inkslinger Playwriting Competition
Deadline: March 18
Fee: $10
Southeastern Louisiana University announces the 2016 Inkslinger Playwriting Competition. Southeastern Theatre is seeking original, unpublished, full-length plays geared for a university cast and audience. The winner will receive a full production in a 455-seat theatre, transportation to and from Hammond, Louisiana, to attend the production, and up to two nights housing while attending the play. The contest is open to all playwrights. All submissions must be original and unpublished. Play should be intended for a college-aged cast and audience. We will only be accepting full-length plays. No musicals at this time will be considered. Click HERE for more information.
