Great job to everyone who came out on Memorial Day to help honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice by completing the hero WOD, Murph. We had an amazing turnout and it was awesome to see you all grind through it. Until next year!
Congratulations to Jamie "Moose" Musumano for qualifying for the World Police and Fire Games in Los Angeles, CA!

Moose is a Firefighter in Waterbury and, based on his performance in this year's CrossFit Games Open, he qualified for this worldwide competition! He'll be heading to the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Aug. 14-15 to compete against other firefighters in his age group. We couldn't be more proud of his hard work; well deserved!

To help fundraise for his trip, we will be doing two fundraisers this summer:
  1. We will accept donations at the in-house weightlifting meet (7/16): See more info about the meet in the "Events" section below. 
  2. Paradise Found Travel is hosting a 50/50 raffle: 50% of the money raised will go directly to Moose to fund his trip to Cali and the other 50% goes to the raffle winner to use towards a trip planned by Paradise Found Travel! For more details and to purchase a ticket ($20, can buy as many as you want), click here. The drawing will be at YCF in July.
Class changes!
The new schedule has taken effect. Here's a reminder of what's new:

Thursday Night:
- CrossFit Classes will be at 4pm and 5pm
- Weightlifting will start at 6pm
- On Ramp class will start at 7:30pm

Saturday Morning:
- Classes will start an hour earlier and be at 8am and 9am

- NEW! Every Sunday we will now hold one class at 9am. It will be a Crossfit Hero WOD/long WOD, perfect for people who love a long workout!
- Open Gym will still be from 10am-12pm

YCF's First Annual In-House Mock Olympic Weightlifting Meet!
Come lift some weights at our first ever YCF Olympic Weightlifting Meet. It will be a more casual setting than most weightlifting meets since it will just be our community. However, we will still follow the same format which includes a weigh in and three attempts at the snatch, and three attempts at the clean and jerk. 

The meet is on Sunday, July 16th. All the information is at the gym on the Event Board but you can also talk to any of the coaches if you have any questions. It'll be a ton of fun and it's a great opportunity to lift in a different setting. We'd love to see everyone there!
Beat the Heat Throwdown Event 1 Released!

We just released the first event for our Beat the Heat Throwdown, DT! The throwdown will be held at Yankee on Saturday, August 19th. 

Reminder about the format: there will be 4 events but they will be completed as individual workouts. Each team will decide which partner does which workout (must do 2 each). The final workout (for the top athletes) will be completed together.

As always, we'd love as many people from the gym to compete as possible. It's a great motivator to keep you working towards a goal all summer. Click below to register and save on early bird pricing. (Note: you must sign in or create an account before you can enter your registration details.)

Our volunteers make this the smoothest running comp every year and we want to continue that trend! All volunteers get a free t-shirt, free lunch and, of course, all the CrossFit action you can handle!

YCF Kid's Summer Camp Starts This Month!*

This 3-day camp promotes broad, general and inclusive fitness knowledge at an early age in a fun atmosphere. Through the camp activities, your child will improve strength, mobility, coordination and endurance. Experienced, certified coaches help enhance your child’s collaborative and cognitive skills and promote working in teams. Nutrition is also a focus, teaching healthy tips while making lunch. 

These summer camp sessions will be the only kid classes offered from 6/27-7/27 so make sure you sign your kid(s) up!

Session 1- June 27, 28, 29
Session 2- July 11, 12, 13
Session 3- July 25, 26, 27

9am-10am for Little Yanks ($40/ week)
10-12pm for Big Yanks/Teens ($70/ week)

* Note: All punch cards will be put on hold starting 6/27 for the summer as well.

Remember that you can order meals from Kettlebell Kitchen and have them delivered directly to YCF! Kettlebell Kitchen is an easy and convenient way to clean up your nutrition, recover faster, work harder, all without having to cook :)

They deliver right to YCF every Monday and Thursday. The order cutoffs are:
• Wednesday evening by midnight for Monday delivery
• Saturday evening by midnight for Thursday delivery
