Madestones had a successful launch at the most recent IJL trade show in London. Madestones founder, Thierry Silber gave a seminar in cooperation with the International Gemological Institute (IGI) on the first day of the show. The seminar room was full and his talk was well received. He explained why a third generation diamond trader ventured into laboratory grown diamonds and how laboratory grown diamonds can open doors for growth with their potential to attract new groups of consumers.

During the 3 days show many retailers showed their interest in making laboratory grown diamonds more available to the public. As a result, Madestones will soon announce the names of their new distributors in the UK.
Madestones will continue to challenge the mind set of traditional jewelers with new and viable ways to introduce laboratory grown diamonds to the buying public. ‘Madestones’ is not a disruptive force but a natural progression. Laboratory grown diamonds are not a substitute for natural diamonds but a new and very relevant option for progressive jewellers.

GIA Executive Vice President Tom Moses says, 'Laboratory grown diamonds are now a fact of life for the Industry'

Tom Moses, GIA Executive Vice President and Chief Laboratory and Research Officer told event participants at Israel’s International Diamond Week last month that laboratory grown diamonds are now a fact of life for the industry. Moses said that there had been significant technological progress in laboratory grown diamonds in recent years. While he expects laboratory grown diamonds to be primarily for commercial use, some of the product will reach the jewelry industry.
To make sure that the GIA will remain on top for the future detection of laboratory grown diamonds Tom Moses announced the opening by GIA of a diamond synthesis facility in New Jersey in January. The site is planned to be a research facility for GIA gemologists to analyze laboratory grown diamonds and practices by laboratory grown diamond producers.
