I imagine many of you are tired. I'm tired. It has been a long year with this pandemic, racial and political turmoil, ethics violations in the Canadian government, along with changing rules, the shifting economy, and a lot of rules that feel very inconsistent. Right now many are watching as our neighbours to the south anxiously work through an election. This is all very exhausting, and the questions about what will happen next and what changes will we face adds even more to our loads.

Jesus lived through anxious and uncertain times too, and this is what He said to His followers, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light." (Matthew 11:28-30 NLT) I think what Jesus was trying to say was that if we follow Him, the problems will still exist, but they won't be as heavy.  If we focus on Him, He can handle everything else.

Jesus is still King of kings, Lord of lords, President of presidents, Doctor of doctors, Pastor of pastors. Take a few minutes to just let Him say those things to you directly, and watch Him carry the burdens.

Last Sunday's Message

Many times in our lives things happen and they are left unresolved. Those things tend to linger and cause problems down the road, whether they were caused by us or by someone else. Jesus gives us clear direction on what we can do to take them from unresolved to resolved.

What We Learned:
Matt 5:21-26 & Luke 17:3-4
Seeking and giving forgiveness is how we change the future.

Reminder Phrase:
Forgiveness Resolves

Here are a few points of celebration, or "Wins" from this past week:
1. Trunk or Treat went extremely well on Saturday! Actually, it was the best-attended Trunk or Treat that we have done since I have been in Amherst! It went so well that we came very close to running out of candy! Over 300 kids came through, and we lost track of the adults!
2. Sunday we went back to 2 services and relaunched kids ministry, and it came together really well. Both services had strong attendance and our kids min pulled off a good program with 11 kids! It was our best attended Sunday since this pandemic started.
3. Another note about kids ministry, Debbie Allen is the department head for kids min and she was unable to lead much of Trunk or Treat and was unable to attend our Konnect Kids Sunday morning, but she has trained her volunteers so well, recruited high capacity people, and delegated so well that those events were incredible successes! Great leadership and God honouring service!

What's Happening

Christmas is the Worst
As soon as November and December come along, it is hard to ignore, Christmas is on its way.  Holidays are hard when we are grieving and Christmas can be particularly difficult.  Everyone is busy preparing for the holiday and we just cannot seem to “get into the spirit”.
Drop in to enjoy a cup of coffee and get some information about getting through the Christmas Season while we grieve.  Grief is not “choosy” it affects individuals and families, children are welcome.  Registration is not required but is helpful. Please call (902) 667 0689 if you plan on attending.
Saturday Nov 28th - 6:30pm-8pm

Konnect Kids
We are launching Konnect Kids again! Kids ages 2-12 can join the fun on Sundays on-site at AWC at 11am! Parents can register their kids when they register for the worship service!

Celebrate Recovery
The God of the Bible, The Father, Son & Holy Spirit are THE higher power – the only one that can be in control.
Only 1/3 of people who attend Celebrate Recovery (CR) do so because of a chemical addiction, the rest are hurts and hang ups. Hurts: abuse, emotional, physical and sexual. Hang-ups: bitterness, anger, trust, do not measure up Habits: behaviours and addictions
You don’t need to hit rock bottom before starting recovery. The 8 principles are based on the beatitudes and the 12 steps flow out of the principles. Join us Tuesday nights, the doors open at 6:15 pm (starts at 6:30). Masks are required and physical distancing will be observed. You can register HERE or call the church at 902 667 9126.

Flamingo Season is Here
When you flock someone, flamingos will be placed on their lawn for 24 hours. (You must personally know this person.)
These flamingos will be placed with a message from you to the target. The message will include what the event is, how long the Flamingos will be there, your name, as well as a personal message from you.
The money raised will be going to the youth ministry at the Amherst Wesleyan Church.
Click here to fill out the form and get flocking!
