Vision

Here is a quote from a book called Letters to the Church by Francis Chan.

There is a simple exercise I walk though with church leaders. First, I have them list all the things that people expect from their church. They usually list obvious things like a really good service, strong age-specific ministries, a certain style/volume/length of singing, a well-communicated sermon, conveniences such as parking, a clean church building, coffee, childcare, etc. Then I have them list the commands God gave the Church in Scripture. Usually they mention commands like "love one another as I have loved you" (John 15:12), "visit orphans and widows in their affliction" (James 1:27), "make disciples of all nations" (Matt. 28:19), "bear one another's burdens" (Gal. 6:2), etc. I then ask them what would upset their people more-if the church didn't provide the things from the first list or if the church didn't obey the commands in the second list.

I don't share this as an attack or even a criticism. I share this because when I read it, it helped open my eyes to see my world and my church from a fresh perspective. Easter weekend is here, and it is our responsibility as followers of Jesus to make sure we are focusing on, and doing what God commands. Help me do this.

Wins

1. We are seeing volunteer and ministry teams struggle with complicated and changing personal schedules, but that isn't stopping them from finding a way to connect, plan, and get the work done!
2. Our teens are showing more engagement in their Bible studies and more interest in taking leadership in their faith journey!
3. The washrooms at the church are finally working!! Thanks to our plumber, our building team, and the Town of Amherst for getting us back flushing!

4. Oh, and we are officially partnering with Westchester Wesleyan Church starting today! That means our staff will be leading AWC and WWC! Good Friday service in Westchester at 11am, and Sunday services in Westchester at 2pm. Check it out:

Last Sunday's Message

We wrapped up our series on John 10:10, and discovered that the enemy is adding pressure to our lives in an attempt to break us and destroy what God has built. We also learned though that God is working hard to create, and in the end, He will make all things NEW!

What We Learned:
Romans 12:1-2 & Revelation 21
God wants to rebuild what the enemy has destroyed and rebuild it right!

Reminder Phrase:
Re-Build

What's Happening

Good Friday (NEW)
Pre-Register Here
We have a special day planned for Good Friday, April 2nd! We will be holding our Good Friday service here at AWC at 6pm, and there will be a baptism taking place!
We will also be starting services at the Westchester Wesleyan Church on that day! Their Good Friday service will be at 11am!

Sundays @ 9:30am Services (NEW)
Our Sunday service at 11am is filling up to the point that we are running out of room. Would you consider, if you are able and don't have children going to Konnect Kids at 11, switching to the 9:30am service? The more people who join us at 9:30, the more room we have for families and visitors at 11am.

Senior Volunteers (NEW)
We are relaunching out Seniors Ministry. Sharon Taylor has stepped up to lead the effort to minister to and reach the seniors of our community, and she is hard at work developing ideas, putting events together and recruiting a team of leaders! We still need lots of volunteers though, especially to run events. We need all sorts of volunteers to serve in lots of different ways. If you're willing to serve,  reach out to Sharon at 902-669-1330 (Mobile) and let her know!

Baptism
We are planning a baptism for Good Friday, April 2nd, during the evening service. If you're interested in being baptized or would like more information about it, please contact us and let us know.

Easter Outreach & Invites!
This Easter we are encouraging and challenging all attenders of AWC to reach out to a person in their life who doesn't know Jesus. We will be providing you with invites and a how-to guide. We believe God is speaking to people already. We are praying to see at least fifty new people between Good Friday and Easter Sunday! With man it may not seem possible, but with God, all things are possible!

Stronger Together and Emotional Intelligence Seminar
May 1st from 9am-Noon we will be holding our Stronger Together event, as well as a special seminar on Emotional Intelligence! More details will be available as the date approaches.

Konnect Kids
We are launching Konnect Kids again! Kids ages 2-12 can join the fun on Sundays on-site at AWC at 11am! Parents can register their kids when they register for the worship service!

Celebrate Recovery
The God of the Bible, The Father, Son & Holy Spirit are THE higher power – the only one that can be in control.
Only 1/3 of people who attend Celebrate Recovery (CR) do so because of a chemical addiction, the rest are hurts and hang ups. Hurts: abuse, emotional, physical and sexual. Hang-ups: bitterness, anger, trust, do not measure up Habits: behaviours and addictions
You don’t need to hit rock bottom before starting recovery. The 8 principles are based on the beatitudes and the 12 steps flow out of the principles. Join us Tuesday nights, the doors open at 6:15 pm (starts at 6:30). Masks are required and physical distancing will be observed. You can register HERE or call the church at 902 667 9126.
