Blankets are comfortable. They are soft, they are warm, they protect us from monsters, and they can make a bed look very neat when they are laid out well, regardless of how dirty or messy the sheets are underneath. They can cover a neat and clean bed just as well as a dirty bed. Blankets easily cover and easily hide, but do not always accurately reflect the state of the bed.

Ok, not getting the metaphor?

Be careful how you use blanket statements and be careful what blanket statements you believe. There are so many ideas and wide-sweeping statements being used and shared on the news, on social media, and through conversations, that the truth is often covered up by them. Our job is not to be comfortable, covered and have everything be neat (all these people are good, all these people are bad, all these people have always been bad, all these people have always been good).

Don't settle for blanket statements. Dig for the truth and let that determine your response.

Sunday's Message

For some of us there have been hard times when we have needed to escape and find a safe place to be. Others though have faced such grave danger that they have been forced to turn their lives upside down to find refuge. Pastor Michael digs into what the Bible says about refugees and how God is our safe place.

What We Learned:
Luke 10
Who are you, and who is your neighbour?

Reminder Phrase:
Who are you, and who is your neighbour?

Amherst LIVE
Wednesdays at 7pm join us for a once a week live interactive online show that will have a variety of segments from week to week! Sometimes there will be contests, challenges, interviews, testimonies, updates, games, and other fun and encouraging elements that will be designed to get you involved in the show itself, and to invite your friends and family to join in!

Even though things are getting weird, and financial pressures are mounting, I know that many of you have committed to tithe, give to missions, or would like to continue supporting the Church as best you can. Find Ways to Give

Annual Business Meeting Report
Our Board met with approval from our district office to set the budget and review our annual business report. You can find a copy of the report here. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reply to this email or contact one of our board members.

Here are a few points of celebration, or "Wins" from this past week:
1. Many of you have seen that it may be quite a long time before we are able to gather in the church as a large group again. Well, our team is already deep into plans to seize the moment and make this into an opportunity to do church different, but also really really good! I hope to have details for you in the next couple weeks. We will be building off of what we have been doing already, but upgrading and adding a few things!
2. We schedule our sermon series 6-12 months ahead of time, and I typically write the first draft of my sermons 2 months before I preach them. How our sermons have recently lined up so well with world events is remarkable.  God obviously has His hand on our church and His Word to us.
3. Things have been rough, but I have been feeling that the victory is coming soon. Even with more things happening all the time, I have felt a shift from being beat down, to feeling like we really are on the winning team!

Prayer & Fasting

Please join us Thursday at noon as we pray and fast from our own homes
Between 11:30am and 1pm join us as we pray for our church and for God's Kingdom to affect Amherst, and for COVID-19 to be stopped and the miracle of healing to touch our world!

We also do a daily prayer time at 11:30am hosted on our Facebook Group.
(Every week this newsletter will go out with updates and important information to keep everyone in the loop. Feel free to share it online or encourage people to subscribe so they get it straight to their email inbox.
