Vision

Well, here we are! This will be our final update email for 2020! Can you believe it? We are almost there. Back when everything started falling apart earlier this year it felt like we would never get through this year. It felt like it would beat us, or that it would drag on forever, like that sermon by the incredibly handsome but long-winded bald preacher you know! But here we are. 2020 hasn't beaten us or stopped the Church of Jesus, and neither will 2021.

You have all done such an incredible job being faithful through all of this, and as many other churches have struggled, we have continued to be consistent, and though are finances aren't quite where we would like them to be, they really have remained quite healthy and strong! Your faithful giving and God's miraculous provisions have done that.

As we come to the end of the year, if you have been meaning to give a little extra, or make up for missed tithes, or just would like to get a bigger tax receipt to help when CRA calls in the new year, now would be a great time to make that donation. These donations make a difference, and we have at least one big project planned for next July and it could be huge for AWC, but we need the finances to do it, and your giving helps get us to that place. I also should say, what really matters most to me here is that we do what God is calling us to do with our money. If God is calling you to give extra, do it. If God is saying to use your money to help a family in need, or simply to bless someone else, do it. And if God is calling you to save, to wait, and to hold onto your money at the moment, do it.

You have all been so faithful. Your lives shine in the darkness, and have often this year broken through the pain that many have faced. Thanks for being the Church.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Wins

1. More money was given in Nov 2020 than in Nov 2019! God continues to provide!
2. I had some trouble with my computer a couple weeks ago, and I think we finally have it all sorted and figured out!
3. Attendance, volunteer numbers, and even how many groups of kids we can serve on Sundays has been growing and expanding and getting better and better!

Last Sunday's Message

Last Sunday we talked about how the story of Jesus coming to Earth is a lot messier than we usually think. When we dug into it we saw just how hard that first Christmas was. It turns out that "hard" is built right into the fabric of Christmas. Jesus came because it is hard, and He came to do something about it.

What We Learned:
Luke 2:1-7
Jesus came to this hard world, to save it, because it is hard.

Reminder Phrase:
Hard is OK

What's Happening

Christmas Eve Service Registrations (UPDATED)
We are getting ready for Christmas Eve already! We have two services to choose from, both on December 24th, one at 5:30pm and one at 7:00pm.  We expect our available seats to fill up this year, and with our limited capacity and COVID-safe procedures in place, we want to be ahead of the game.  Please register early to reserve your seats! Click here to fill out our online form!
We are only permitted to have 100 people total in each service, so please register in advance.

Christmas Wrap-Up: Around the Block
There are people living within reach of the church who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This Christmas, we want to show them the love of Jesus with the hope of other conversations to come. We have purchased 45 ten dollar gift cards from McDonald's, and McDonald's has donated ANOTHER 45 gift cards of the same value! Praise God!

We attached the gift cards to a Christmas card, and delivered them to more than 80 houses around the church! On the Christmas cards we made an offer to help people with gas, groceries, winter clothes, or yard work. In order for them to receive help, they will need to contact the church. When this happens, we will share the request with the church and look for volunteers to step up and bless these people with their request. If you'd like to help fill these needs as they come in, could you contact Pastor Jamin to let him know?

Jamin's number is 1-902-890-9759, and his email is pastorjamin@disciples.com

Konnect Kids
We are launching Konnect Kids again! Kids ages 2-12 can join the fun on Sundays on-site at AWC at 11am! Parents can register their kids when they register for the worship service!

Celebrate Recovery
The God of the Bible, The Father, Son & Holy Spirit are THE higher power – the only one that can be in control.
Only 1/3 of people who attend Celebrate Recovery (CR) do so because of a chemical addiction, the rest are hurts and hang ups. Hurts: abuse, emotional, physical and sexual. Hang-ups: bitterness, anger, trust, do not measure up Habits: behaviours and addictions
You don’t need to hit rock bottom before starting recovery. The 8 principles are based on the beatitudes and the 12 steps flow out of the principles. Join us Tuesday nights, the doors open at 6:15 pm (starts at 6:30). Masks are required and physical distancing will be observed. You can register HERE or call the church at 902 667 9126.
