Join Us For the eTOD Wilson/Broadway Virtual Open House
December 8th, 2022
Dear Neighbor,
Uptown United and the 46th Ward invite you to participate in a site development study to explore how policies and initiatives from the City of Chicago’s new eTOD ordinance affects Uptown. eTOD stands for Equitable Transit Oriented Development. We have observed increased development interest for sites located near the Wilson CTA Station, and it has become clear the importance of engaging community stakeholders in shaping a vision for these sites. Results of this study will be used as a guide for future development throughout the neighborhood. With this study, we expect to create exciting, viable development proposals for these parcels, rooting their ideas in realistic information about what the market can support and securing equitable development that serves the neighborhood near the Wilson Station.
Our collective goal is not to reach consensus on any one vision, but to identify areas of broad agreement about the future of these parcels and the Wilson/Broadway corridors. This process will serve as a model for how proactive planning can attract development that meets the needs and desires of local residents and businesses, connects people to jobs and amenities, and increases transit ridership.
To help put the new ordinance into context, we will be discussing what is possible on the southeast corner of Wilson and Broadway. This is a great educational opportunity to learn more about the efforts of the Uptown Chamber and the eTOD ordinance.
Join us Wednesday, December 14th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Zoom by clicking here.
Best,

FEEDBACK NEEDED FOR 2023 MENU FUNDS
Your feedback will help Alderman Cappleman determine how to spend $1.5M in Menu funds to be used for 46th Ward infrastructure projects in 2023. The vast amount of these funds will be used for street and alley resurfacing, sidewalk replacement, curb and gutter repair, repaving entrances to alleys, arterial street bump-outs, street lighting, bike lanes, and tree planting. If you aren't sure about whether or not an infrastructure idea/concern is related to Menu, please send it to us and we can add it to our list of projects for Menu, create a 311 request or contact the appropriate department to make sure your concern is resolved.
If you have a menu project idea or an infrastructure concern, please email our office at ward46@cityofchicago.org or call us at 773-878-4646. In the email, please include your name, address, and the best way to contact you.
When describing your idea, please make sure to include:
- The type of infrastructure request/problem and why: is your concern about a street, a sidewalk square, etc? Is it broken, is there flooding, etc?
- The address/location of the infrastructure item: please be as specific as possible, including an address, cross street, and other markers.
- The extent/length of the request: "The street needs to be paved for 2 blocks, from X St. to Y Ave. " or "2 sidewalk squares need to be replaced."
- Whenever possible, please include photos!
