Dear << Test First Name >>

Standing in an elevator. What is that like for you? Doesn't it feel like people can be too close for comfort in an elevator? Do you agree that it is fairly easy for people in an elevator to be "in your space" or to cramp your style?

It can also be a place where you can have some fun if you take a look at what these guys did in this video clip:

HARVEST 2012

A time of the year when it is the most likely for us to get into each other’s space at work is during harvest time. The pressure is on, grapes are ripening, journalists and wine importers are visiting and tasting and the clock is ticking!

Heinie (our viticulturist) and Corlea (our winemaker) however are a formidable team. They have been as cool as a cucumber during our 2012 harvest. All of us at Bosman salute them for an extremely well executed harvest thus far.

Corlea has done something amazing this year. She’s been blogging her entire harvest experience on our blog.  We have also been posting these blogs on Facebook.

Please take a look to get a feel of what has been happening at Bosman during our harvest of 2012.

A CELEBRATION IN FAIRTRADE WITH ARNO CARSTENS AT THE BOSMAN LONG LUNCH

If open spaces are what you are into, then you will enjoy the countryside of Wellington and the open lawns outside our cellar with the majestic views of the mountains.

17 & 18 March 2012 are the dates of the annual Wellington Harvest Festival and it is also one of the best weekends of the year to visit Wellington. Every wine farm on the Wellington Wine Route has something planned for the weekend for you to enjoy. R80 gives you access to all farms and a tasting glass to try the amazing wines of our region.

At the Bosman Long Lunch, Arno Carstens will be entertaining us with his unplugged music (between 12h00 - 15h00 daily). Our Long Lunch will be a special celebration in Fairtrade, together with Fairtrade Label South Africa and some significant other Fairtrade producers in our country.

The Bosman Long Lunch will be benefitting a very popular Cape Winelands charity called Pebbles.

Last but not least: there will be great food to order from Marc's Restaurant, an old tractor display, boules, Fairtrade coffee, chocolate, spices, a kiddies area and of course our Bosman Family Vineyards, De Bos Handpicked Vineyards and Appollis Fairtrade wines.

A SPACE AT THE BEACH:
THE GRAND CAFÉ

If you are in Cape Town on a sunny day and you’re wondering what to do, take a drive down to Beach Road in Granger Bay and pop in for lunch at The Grand Café. What a beautiful setting! It is right on the beach with the sand and the water of the ocean in front of you to create some headspace.

A SPACE FOR FRIENDS: THE STONE KITCHEN COOKING WORKSHOPS
Our little Bovlei valley often gets the creative juices running and Chef Johan van Schalkwyk of Stone Kitchen has come up with a wonderful concept:

Book a cooking workshop for you and five of your friends, drive out to Wellington and prepare a three course meal at the Stone Kitchen! Johan will take you through the do's and don’ts of a three course dinner, prepares it with you in his kitchen and afterwards, you sit down and enjoy the meal you have prepared with all your friends. Just what you need to pick up some professional cooking tips.

It only happens on selected days, so get in touch with Johan to get more info. It sounds like great fun!

PROUD SPACE:
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ...

We would like to congratulate Heinie Nel for winning the annual VinPro/Winetech Vineyard Block Competition for 2012. The judging criteria of the competition consists of vineyard practises such as soil preparation, choice of rootstock and clone, choice of vineyard site, trellising methods, general vineyard management, soil maintenance, weed control, spraying programmes, and irrigation systems. The judging panel provided an overall score of 96% to this Chenin Blanc vineyard. Well done Heinie!

Bosman Family Vineyards was named African Supplier of the Year by Sainsbury's of the United Kingdom. Well done to Corlea and her first class team!

EPILOGUE
It was the writer Henry Nouwen who said that “Hospitality is not about changing people, but merely creating a space where change can take place.”

Our lives are filled with different kind of spaces that we create.

These spaces can be good, inviting, warm and calm spaces of healing and growth for those that share their lives with us. Unfortunately we also have the ability to create negative spaces of anxiety, anger and judgement which can cause pain and harm to those sharing life with us whether at home, work or anywhere else.

May we be people that create hospitable spaces around ourselves, in our homes, our companies, our sports clubs, gyms, shopping malls, dinner tables and everywhere we may find a reason for being. May we let go of the pressure to change whoever we are sharing life with and be convinced that change happens when we create the space for it to happen.

To life!

Carla Bosman
