Dean's Monthly Message

It's mid-February, the temperature is 65, and the sky is clear. Not bad for winter! But then it is Charleston.

A lot coming up in March and April. As I mentioned in January's Business Blast, we will have our Battlefield Leadership executive development program March 9-11 in which we take business leaders to various Revolutionary and Civil War sites around Charleston to learn about the events that occurred there and how battlefield leadership decisions translate to the business world. We are doing this in partnership with Battlefield Leadership, LLC, which was founded by two former heads of Military History at West Point.

Roger Nelson: Leadership as a Journey

Thursday, February 11, Roger Nelson, chairman of private equity firm WMG Capital and retired Deputy Chairman of Ernst & Young LLP, spoke to students at The Citadel as part of the Leadership Series. Each speaker of the Leadership Series approaches the topic of leadership differently.  Roger Nelson presented Leadership as a Journey.

CSB Students and Faculty Join Phi Kappa Phi

The Citadel School of Business is proud to announce numerous students and faculty have been initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, The Citadel Chapter (212).  Phi Kappa Phi was established in 1897 at the University of Maine and The Citadel Chapter (212) was installed on May 8, 1979.

Star of the West: Cadet Landon Poe
Last summer, Cadet Landon Poe received the Star of the West research grant.  This grant is intended to support the academic enrichment of cadets whose project proposals present a clear connection between the summer experience and their goals after graduation.

  • February 11, cadets enrolled in Principles of Macroeconomics and Principles of Microeconomics were afforded the opportunity to witness presentations from former Mayor Joe Riley and Gene Sperling.  Gene Sperling is the former Director of the National Economic Council and Assistant to the President for Economic Affairs under both Clinton and Obama. Sperling is now a consultant to the Hillary Clinton campaign.
