Dorothy Andersen, MDDorothy Andersen

Dr. Dorothy H. Andersen, P&S professor of pathology and pediatrics, was a pioneer in cystic fibrosis research. In a 1938 article she was the first to identify the disease and, with colleagues including Dr. Paul di Sant’Agnese (P&S’48), created the first tests to diagnose it. Andersen also did important work with cardiac malformations and glycogen storage disease. She died in 1963. Her papers are held by the Health Sciences Library’s Archives & Special Collections.
