Alumni Auditorium Renovations Begin in Late May

Alumni Auditorium will be temporarily closed from 5 p.m. on May 19 through 11 p.m. on Aug. 31 due to planned renovation work. Access to the auditorium and its lobby will be unavailable during this time. Visit the CUMC Facilities Management website for more information about this project.

Denim Day on April 26

Denim Day logosDenim Day is an international campaign designed to raise awareness about the prevalence of sexual violence. The Columbia community is encouraged to wear denim on April 26 and sign the Denim Day Pledge as a way to demonstrate support for sexual assault survivors. Stickers and buttons will be available at the Denim Day table in Hammer LL1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

On April 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., turn in your unused or expired prescription medication for safe disposal as part of National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. Take Back Day logoCollection sites will be located on the medical center campus (in front of the Vagelos Education Center) and Morningside campus (College Walk, West 116th Street & Broadway). Only pills or patches will be collected; the collection sites cannot accept liquids, needles, or sharps. The service is free, anonymous (no questions asked), and open to the public. This initiative is sponsored by the Columbia University Department of Public Safety, New York City Police Department, and Drug Enforcement Administration.

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to the CUMC Library’s first Database Laboratory on April 25 at 3 p.m. This workshop offers a hands-on approach to improving your search strategies, providing an opportunity to enjoy self-directed learning under the guidance of an informationist.
