2021 Festival Programming

Program 2021 Bulletin #3
Welcome to those who have joined the WWC Presenter mailing list. When Words Collide is a unique type of festival where everyone – organizers and presenters – volunteer their time and efforts to bring readers and writers together in a celebratory weekend. Without you, there would be no festival.

Pandemic Impact on Our 2021 Festival
As 2020 ends we see no end in sight to this pandemic. Vaccines have been developed and are being distributed. It is hoped this will ultimate return life to normal, but it is difficult to say when. Before August 2021? Perhaps. Perhaps not. With this in mind we continue to plan for an in-person festival come next August, but are also preparing to move the full festival on-line should the health and safety of presenters and attendees require it. That decision will require input from the Government of Alberta, the City of Calgary, and the Delta Calgary South Hotel. For now, thank you for volunteering to present next summer and for helping us build a program that will delight attendees and participants.

2020 In-Person Festival Content Confirmation

Thank you to those who confirmed your participation in 2021 following Bulletins #1 & #2. Most of you got back to us and we have combined your input with content submitted in recent months by additional presenters. If you did not get back to us but had content scheduled for 2020 that you would still like to present in 2021, please get back to us so we can incorporate your 2020 content into the schedule. At this is time are also accepting new content from all presenters to fill out the schedule.

2021 Festival Schedule Documents as of December 31, 2020

Please review the PDFs below to confirm the scheduling of your content. Note that Itinerary entries in blue have been scheduled while those in black have not. For presentations/workshops we are holding space for additional presenters before assigning scheduled presenters additional timeslots. We are also not scheduling panelists beyond those who were submitted with the panel suggestions. We hope to collect additional discussion topics before requesting your preferences. If you have a topic you would like to suggest, please send them to us at so we can add them to the Program Descriptions document. In the March timeframe we will ask you for panel preferences from a fuller list of topics.

Just a reminder that we do not yet know whether the festival will be in person or online. If you are willing to present in person, but not online, please let us know that when you provide content so we can mark that in our scheduling information. We also understand that some presenters cannot yet commit to an in-person festival, which is one of the reasons we are reserving space in the schedule for new presenters.
