AWAG's Trustee Dr. Jharna Pathak was felicitated for her outstanding contribution towards women's welfare, by Gujarat Stree Kelavani Mandal on 7 March 2017-the eve of International Women's Day as a part of their centenary celebrations. The award function was held at Shrimati Aruna Mayur Patel Conference Hall in the presence of Shri Ushaben Pandit from Kasturba Gandhi Smarak Trust and the President of Gujarat Stree Kelavani Mandal. Ms. Sara Baldiwala (Co-Trustee AWAG) attended the function, amongst a number of other guests and well-wishers.  
With AWAG being an active member of a collective named 'Forum of Concerned Citizens for Naliya Incident' that was formed following the Naliya Sex Scandal, its fight for justice continued through the given multipronged interventions:
  • Held a Citizen’s Meeting on 6 March 2017 to reiterate our demands before the Government for justice to Naliya's Nirbhaya.
  • Released an Open Letter addressed to women Sarpanchs of the country on 7 March 2017 to raise a voice for justice to Naliya's Nirbhaya.
  • Attended a group discussion on 'Violence against Women' organized by Kutch Mahila Vikas Sangathan (KMVS) at Bhuj on 8 March 2017 and also met the victim at Kothara.
  • Meeting with the victimized daughter was held in Ahmedabad on 10 March 2017.
  • Held a Press Conference at AWAG-Kunj on 16 March 2017 in order to garner support in seeking justice for the victims.
Ms. Chetna Patel conducted a meeting on Reproductive Health and Hygiene with the students pursuing their second year ANM-FHW training at School of Nursing-Referral Hospital, Radhanpur, Gujarat on 22 March 2017. The session was interactive and welcomed by all.
AWAG joined in yet another protest along with People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) and other local women's organizations against rape, violence and suicide cases in village Mandvi in Gariyadhar Taluka, Bhavnagar district of Gujarat. In relation to this, a Memorandum outlining the necessary demands in seeking justice for these victims was submitted to the Collector & Inspector General of Police (Bhavnagar District) on 31 March 2017.
