Job Openings


The Canton Central School District is continuously accepting applications for the following positions:
  • Substitute Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Teacher Aides, School Monitors, Nurses (LPN and RNs), Clerical, Bus Drivers, Custodial Workers, and Food Service Helpers. 
  • We have an immediate need for a tutor to work with a high school student for up to 10 hours per week through June 2019, $24 an hour plus mileage. Tutor must have NYS teaching certification. Email awaters@ccsdk12.org if you are interested.

Drop Off Reminders



Please use the bus loop after 7:50AM when the buses leave the loop.The Banford playground doors lock at 7:55AM. 4th grade greeters and staff at the Banford loop need to prepare for the school day at that point.


 

Positivity Project Recognition


We are so proud of our students recognized at the P2 table this week for "Supporting Others When They Struggle!" As always, thanks to our special guests and to everyone behind the scenes who makes our P2 Table possible.
 

Box Tops Collection


Each month the BPO will award the Box Tops collection trophy to the class with the most box tops collected that month - so every class has a chance to win each month! At the end of the year the class with the most box tops collected will win a classroom pizza party! Keep track of your classes progress on the pizza bulletin board outside the main office. The January winner of the Box Tops Trophy -- congratulations to MRS. NEWMAN'S CLASS

Positivity Project Assembly


The middle school recently had a great assembly focused on our efforts with The Positivity Project. Several students were chosen for recognition based on their ability to serve as role models for one of the last six character strengths we have covered: bravery, gratitude, kindness, humility, self-control, and perseverance.

Middle School Yearbooks


The McKenney Middle School yearbook is on sale now through February 15th. This 60-page full-color yearbook displays student portraits, organizations, sports, special events, artwork, schoolwork, and candid shots. Yearbooks typically arrive in May. High School Happenings

Cybears Robotics Team


Congratulations to the Cybears robotics team for a 2nd place finish at the Excelsior regional tournament at Clarkson University. The Cybears are coached by Suzanne Creurer with team members Cooper Stuntz, Leo Crouse, Keegan Ford, Charles Thacher, Gabe Roberts, Alexander Scriminger, Micheal Caracciolo and Drake Shorette. 
 

Science Olympiad


On January 26th, students from Canton competed in the Science Olympiad Adirondack Regional Tournament at Plattsburgh High School. The team placed 2nd overall in the region, winning medals in 19 of 23 events and earning them a trip to the statewide tournament on March 15th and 16th at Le Moyne College. This is Canton's second year in a row qualifying for the statewide tournament.

 

FFA Leadership Conference


Canton FFA was represented at the 212/360 NYS FFA Leadership Conference held in Syracuse Jan. 26-27th. Twelve FFA members joined over 700 other members from across NYS to learn more about communication, teamwork, goal setting, and making a positive impact in the community.
 

Winter Sports Season


The winter season ,although still underway, has proven to be fruitful for the Golden Bears once again.  We have enjoyed a successful season both on the scoreboard and in the classroom as  many of our athletes will receive the Senior Athlete of Distinction Award.  These athletes have been able to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 90% while participating in athletics and in some instances,  numerous other endeavors.  Congratulations to the following Canton Central Seniors:
