  A Message from Father Bongard

Dear Roman alumni,

It is absolutely amazing how our world has changed so radically in just a few short weeks.  The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally altered the normal routines of life.  The simple acts of going to work or school, visiting a sick relative, gathering with friends, even the ‘normal’ way of greeting a colleague, have all been disrupted.  Everyone is being challenged to navigate through these difficult times.

At Broad & Vine, the education of our students remains a top priority. Our faculty has made a remarkable shift from teaching in the classroom to teaching online.  Every student at Roman is equipped with an iPad and this device has proven invaluable in delivering educational services.  While the school buildings may be closed, our guys are not on holiday.   Virtually, lessons are being taught, assignments given, and tests are being administered.  The rigors of a Roman education continue!

Additionally, while operating off-site, the Mission Advancement team has been kept busy working with Class reps in rescheduling reunions, readying the Spring Appeal, editing the next edition of The Empire, promoting the EITC/OSTC program and planning the Fall 2020 calendar.  Executive Director, Nick Pytel ’97 (, Development Director, Adam Gault ’08 ( and Special Events Coordinator, Patricia Quinn ( are available to assist any/all alums with questions or issues.  Please do not hesitate to reach-out via email---They are at your service.

During these uncertain times, please know you and your families, as well as the entire Roman Community are in my thoughts and prayers, especially at Mass.  It is vitally important, that, as a people of faith, we use this time to strengthen our relationships with family members, as well as with God.  May His grace provide you with strength and peace.
