"We drew strength and sustenance from the knowledge that we were part of a greater humanity..."

- Nelson Mandela

Hi <<First Name>>,

Happy April!

It seems that we are inching back towards something like our previously “normal” lives. The pandemic has required patience and endurance in lots of ways. It’s exciting to see a hopeful path forward.

Mental strength through adversity has always inspired me, and there are many examples through history. I think of Nelson Mandela being in prison for 27 years, diligently continuing his efforts to unite his country and end apartheid in South Africa. Regarding his inspiration through his prison sentence, he said, “We drew strength and sustenance from the knowledge that we were part of a greater humanity than our jailers could claim.”

A couple of years ago, my Dad completed a half marathon in the desert with very little training and no prior experience. It was the Bataan Memorial Death March, held in White Sands, New Mexico. He did it in honor of his father (my grandfather), who survived the Bataan Death March in the Philippines during World War II. Before the half marathon, I remember talking to him and asking him if he was ready, and his response was, “It’s all in the mind.”

These are keys in the practice of yoga as well: The power of the mind, and believing in something greater than our own individual wants and needs. As we start to get closer to being back in the studio and back to ways of living that we were used to, I’m proud of the way we all have faced challenges with patience and diligence, with a grander vision of health and well-being for everyone. I’m very grateful for the ways you have continued to honor and support our yoga community.

We will continue to have outdoor and virtual classes for a bit longer, and will bring back beach yoga at the end of the month!
Take care and stay healthy!

With Love + Gratitude,

<3 Lara

When are we opening?

Los Angeles is currently rated at the “orange” / moderate risk level. Although we can currently open indoors at 25% capacity, I would like to wait at least until the next tier, of “yellow” / minimal risk level, when we can have 50% capacity indoors. It seems more practical to wait a little bit longer, than to open at this time with very small class sizes. I would also like to give the instructors time to receive a vaccination if they’d like to.

Although I do not know when we will move into the next tier of lower risk level, Gov. Newsom mentioned that we are hopeful to be fully reopened (with continued precautions) by June 15. It’s coming soon enough, and we thank you for your patience.

Getting closer to being back in the studio and can't wait!
