To celebrate Carers Week and Refugee Week, Isbah Khan our BAME Carer Service & Equalities Coordinator was invited to speak about her role and the services available for BAME carers in Lanarkshire on Bene McKinlay’s BB African News Magazine Show on Jambo Radio.

Carers Week Activities
We are hosting a range of virtual activities for carers to take part in during Carers Week 2021. It is vital at this time that you continue to take care of yourself and stay connected with others. Take a look at what we have on offer below and book a place on any of the activities that interest you. It may also be the ideal opportunity for you to try something new.

Coming Up - Thursday 10 June 2021

Mental Health Awareness Session

In partnership with SAMH, this session will provide a general overview of Mental Health, challenging stigma around Mental Health, and signposting to community services.

Short Breaks Bureau and Morphfit Gentle Movement Taster Session

An information session full of useful information on Lanarkshire Carers Short Breaks Bureau, with a taster session from Morphfit to show how carers can creatively take a short break from caring.

11am - 12:30pm

Self Advocacy for Carers - Taster Session

Being able to get your voice heard. For a carer this means speaking up for themselves and for the person they are caring for.

Carers Quiz

Let’s get quizzical! Test your general knowledge and have fun at the same time. Prizes for the winner.

6:30pm - 7:30pm

Young Adult Carers Quiz

A music quiz for Young Adult Carers aged 18-25 years old. Test your music knowledge and have fun at the same time. Prizes for the winner.

Introduction to Mindfulness

Join Martin for an introduction to some simple, scientifically proven techniques which will have a real impact on your well-being - ideal if it’s new to you or as a refresher. Over the hour, Martin will also lead you in a guided meditation so you can experience deep relaxation for yourself.

You’ll receive a booklet “An Introduction to Mindfulness” which has all the info you need to fully understand mindfulness, two short videos with hints and tips and a handy audio to lead you in an expertly guided practice to help you relax and unwind whenever you need to.
