Dessert Theater and Auction

In 1995, the Winston-Salem Moravian Churches formed a partnership with Forsyth Jail and Prison Ministries to support the call of a Moravian pastor to minister to inmates. Chaplain Robert Wolfe accepted the call and has helped countless inmates and families. You have an opportunity to thank and support Chaplain Wolfe at the Friends of Moravian Prison Ministry’s Dessert Theater, Sunday, April 10, 6:00pm-8:00pm, Friedberg Moravian Church, 2178 Friedberg Church Road in Winston-Salem. The Cherry Street Inmate Choir and Friedberg Moravian Church Choir will provide music. Delicious desserts to sample, and a live auction of desserts and other items will make it a fun evening.

Are You a Runner or Walker?

If you are a runner or just like to walk, we invite you to River Oaks Community Church’s annual ROCC the 5K, Saturday, May 14, 7:00am. Register here. Free childcare is provided for those who pre-register.

Proceeds from the 2016 ROCC 5K will help fund family-builder programs through FJPM which teaches inmates parenting skills and provide opportunities for families to learn and grow in their relationships. Healthy families beat the odds of generational crime.

Maundy Thursday at the Prison

Each year, thirteen men dressed in costume present a Last Supper play for inmates and guests at the Forsyth Jail & Prison Ministries chapel. One by one a disciple will stand, recite memorized lines about his relationship with Jesus and end with, “He says one of us will betray him. Is it I?” At the conclusion of the play, communion is shared, the disciples remove the large cross from the wall and pass it around the chapel so that every inmate and guest touches the cross as hands are raised overhead. It is a powerful evening and a highlight of Holy Week for those who attend. View a brief video of this inspiring evening.
