Upcoming 2016 Breakfast

Two important classes that are part of the Ministry's Transition to Work program to prepare inmates for return to the community:
Forsyth Tech’s Employability Skills Class was taught by instructor Don Witte. This 5-week, 25-hour course prepared twelve inmates for success in obtaining and keeping jobs. They learned the importance of developing healthy communication skills in the work environment. The topics covered were: resume writing, job search options, cover letters and job applications, interviewing, and communicating well to keep your job. Don presented each graduate a certificate to celebrate this step in preparing for employment.
Twenty-five inmates completed the 1.5 hour, 10-week, 7 Habits on the Inside course. The team of instructors included Bart Coan, Robert Esleeck, Ted Philpott, Charlie Donahoe, Scott Gerding, and Rodney Stilwell. Through video, lecture and homework assignments, inmates learned how to change thinking and reactions for better outcomes. At the graduation ceremony, inmates invited one family member to attend. The keynote speaker was Bill McClain, owner of Mr. Bill Productions. A team activity, certificate of completion, and comments from inmates and family members highlighted the importance of this class.

Daddy/Daughter Dance

Our second daddy/daughter dance brought inmate families together to learn, apply, and experience family communication and fun. On Friday night, Taronza Graves lined up etiquette and dance instructors to prepare families for Saturday’s dance and dining. Dr. Victoria Hanchell and Chaplain Tejado Hanchell spoke on relationships. Early Saturday morning, volunteers from Centenary United Methodist Church transformed the chapel into a beautiful dining and dance area. Dad and daughters spent lunchtime enjoying time together, lunch, and dance. It was a healing time for families.
