We heard you! Last spring, we listened to feedback from families and recognized that the lack of a common platform and starting point for students may have led to a less-than-stellar experience.
Common Starting Point
We have been working since then to build a better experience for the 2020-21 school year. This year, we are excited to introduce Microsoft Teams as the common starting point for all K-12 students and teachers. Teams will be the one-stop-shop for students to:
- Start their day
- Access their class resources or school information
- Participate in online meetings with their teachers
- Perform other routine tasks such as ordering lunch or indicating their attendance.
Additional Instructions Coming Next Week
Next week, all students will be receiving a student checklist from their teachers containing important steps they will need to take to set up their Teams app. One of the items in each checklist is an overview of Microsoft Teams to introduce students to the app and some grade-level specific examples of how it will be used. We invite you to check out these introduction videos below as a sneak peek of the common starting point.
Important System Updates
Earlier this week, we sent email instructions
to families for conducting 1:1 device updates for grades 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11 and 12. After you complete this update from home, students' 1:1 devices will automatically launch Microsoft Teams upon startup, for your convenience! (Devices provided to students in grades K-3, 6 and 9 already have this feature installed.)
Introduction Videos for Families
We hope that these quick introduction videos below help to provide you and your family with a glimpse into the experience that we envision for students this year. Thank you for watching. We are excited to start on Monday!
