Happiness

 

What do you really want in life? Maybe you've got a pretty good idea, a game plan. But what we think we want is actually just a means to achieve what we really want--happiness! But what happens when we don't get what we want? We become filled with sadness, defeat, and failure.

January first brings about a sense of renewal, and with that comes resolutions, goals, hopes, and dreams. The new car, the bigger paycheck, the smaller pant-size, the fancy gym membership, all can be good things that bring happiness, but true happiness doesn't come from external factors.

Happiness is a choice.

Happiness is a perspective. 

Happiness is a mindset

Happiness is a daily practice. 
 

One Word


The past few years, I've been doing things a bit different on New Year's. Instead of setting some crazy goal, I pick just one word. I got the idea from motivational speaker, Jon Gordon, who co-authored a quick, little read called One Word That Will Change Your Life. I highly recommend checking it out if you're having trouble coming up with your own word!

Focusing on just one word for the year has helped me to turn inward and become happier internally, as opposed to letting external factors determine that for me. 

This year, my word is going to be "intuition." I plan to tune into that tiny voice inside--acknowledge, listen, and discern what it's telling me to do--and then the most important part--to do it! All too often, habits, rituals, and day-to-day busyness get in the way of what my heart and soul are telling me I really need!
 

Faith


Check in with your thoughts. You're only a failure if you're telling yourself you are! What can you do to manifest happiness from within this year? Start simple: one word!

To really dig in and do the inside work, it will take faith. Surrender, give up the control, and let God guide you!
 

Concrete Actions
