from the National Director…

Be the change you wish to see in the world
I have always loved this saying, attributed to the remarkable Mahatma Gandhi. A valuable reminder that it is up to us to make things happen for ourselves, it also captures the power each of us have as individuals to change the world. NAWO is made up of a truly awesome group of individuals - people and organisations - who are all working to make a difference. On March 8, International Women's Day, I encourage all of you to feel proud and celebrate the contribution your NAWO membership represents. If you're looking for some fabulous ideas for celebrating, you must check out our IWD Tool Kit.

Never content to wait for change, In 2017 we're driving even more initiatives to push the gender diversity accelerator for change!

For individuals, we have expanded our offering of exceptional Professional Development Programs that will develop the core skills you need to realise your career potential.

For organisations, we are embarking on a major research project in collaboration with the Centre for Ethical Leadership (CEL) to measure and map the progress of our organisations - the Diversity Scan. I urge all of our Corporate Members to embrace the opportunities offered by this exciting project and will be sending details directly to our member CEOs in the coming weeks.

I look forward to working with all of you in 2017 to lead the way and set new standards for operational gender diversity!

tools to #BeBoldForChange!

International Women's Day - IWD - is held each year on 8 March. It’s a day to celebrate gender diversity and identifying the actions every person can take to help drive better outcomes for women. Through meaningful celebration and targeted bold action, we can all be responsive and responsible leaders in creating a more gender inclusive world. The theme for IWD 2017 is #BeBoldForChange. If you or your organisation are NAWO Members, feel proud! Bold action has already been taken towards driving better outcomes for women. For IWD 2017, we want YOU to celebrate your NAWO membership and all that membership has to offer… check out our fabulous IWD2017 Tool Kit for plenty of bold ideas to get you started!

"I think our diversity strategy is working..."

Do you? Is it? It's time to find out!

NAWO has partnered with the Centre for Ethical Leadership (CEL) to develop the 'Diversity Scan' - a validated assessment tool for monitoring the effectiveness of diversity policies and practice; identifying areas for strategic focus of diversity interventions; and motivating cultural change and increasing diversity and inclusion.
The benefits of the Diversity Scan are twofold. Firstly, it will generate a baseline 'scorecard' for a longitudinal study to track the progress of our member organisations and NAWO's impact on this progress. Secondly, members will have the option of accessing Premium Level Diversity Reports personalised for their business for a fraction of the cost of implementing such a study independently. In short, the Diversity Scan will put both NAWO and our Corporate Members firmly in control of whether or not our diversity strategies really are working.
