In the wake of Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), and as climate change exacerbates weather-related disasters around the globe, the ILO is working with local communities to make them more resilient to future storms.

ILO and DOLE joint rapid livelihood impact assessment after Typhoon Melor (Nona)

Immediately after Typhoon Melor (Nona), the ILO and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), assessed the impact of the typhoon and provided emergency employment in Oriental Mindoro and Romblon.

New ILO figures show 150 million migrants in the global workforce

A new ILO statistical study provides estimates on labour migration, including regions and industries where international migrant workers are established and a special focus on migrants in domestic work.

Key Indicators of the Labour Market 2015

Workers are becoming more educated, although not always finding suitable jobs

New and potential trade union leaders from Luzon participated in a Basic Leadership Training. The ILO in coordination with the Confederation of Independent Unions in the Public Sector (CIU-PS) and with the support of the ILO-Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA)  Partnership Programme, equipped young trade union leaders with union organizing skills, trade union leadership and results oriented planning and collective bargaining.
