the cool kids closing down the Friday night party last weekend (photo by Kelli Staci)
I've recently returned from the Locus Awards weekend in Seattle, where I reconnected with several lovely people and made a few new friends!

Friday night was the Clarion West first-week-ending party (shown above), and Saturday afternoon I ghosted the actual award ceremony to go teach a writing workshop at the Renton library. But I got back in time to catch folks headed out for happy hour (shown below; photo by Andrew Penn Romine), and wrapped up the festivities with more great conversations on Saturday night.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this poll, I've decided to try sharing some works-in-progress and random puzzley things with my patrons. If you want to read a scene from my standalone fantasy novel and/or get some original puzzles to solve for fun this month and in the future, become a patron!

More KANGAROO This Fall

I am still working on a third Kangaroo book, I promise, but in the meantime you can read a short story about your favorite interplanetary spy with a superpower! "Fire in the Pocket" is original to the new anthology Infinite Stars: Dark Frontiers (shown above) and will appear alongside a whole bunch of other cool space opera tales. Pre-order now from your local independent bookstore!
