As you know, <<First Name>>, Curious Fictions has shuttered (read all about it in Andrew Liptak's "Ignition Failure" feature), and I'm in the process of re-hosting all my free stories from there to my author website, Stories by Curtis C. Chen (scroll down to Short Fiction).

Meanwhile, you can read this archived version of my February 2020 story, "Cats Don’t Care About Universal Basic Income."

Some of the CF originals will show up on my Patreon #SOON, but first I need to get around to rejiggering my rewards since the old levels clearly aren't working for any of us. Please stay tuned.

And I am telling you I'm not going

...is still my current response to anyone who asks me to go to an in-person event. I probably won't be comfortable attending any conventions until next year, and who knows when in 2022 we'll have the pandemic more under control. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Speaking of which, the microCOVID Project is a great resource for figuring out your personal risk budget with respect to COVID-19 exposure and "find[ing] effective safety measures for customizable situations." We don't have to be locked down any more if we're fully vaccinated, but we all still need to be cautious in order to protect the most vulnerable among us. Don't be a jerk. Masks work.

but we can still Zoom all the time

I'm glad people are continuing to organize cool online events, and I'm appearing at a couple of them in the coming weeks:

The former is probably more interesting if you're a writer, but the latter is free and open to all ages. Pre-registration required for both.

Please stay safe and get vaccinated when you can.

RIP Lady Grey, 2008?-2021
We found her as a stray cat in the park in August of 2012.
We named her "Lady Grey" because of her color and attitude.
She lived with us (and Jasper and Tye) for about nine months, until some friends in Portland adopted her.
She passed away this week.
We'll all miss her, but we're glad she was in our lives for that brief time.
Even if she did have it in for Food Robot.
You know who else worked from home? CINDERELLA
