Canvas Faculty Toolbox 

The Faculty Toolbox is now available on Canvas. In the toolbox you will find a link to 'Growing with Canvas', a self-paced tutorial, faculty resources, a link and embed code for the Canvas Student Orientation, and much more!

Graduate Online Pedagogy & Mentorship Workshop

The Graduate Net Initiative and the Center for Faculty Excellence invite you to participate in the Summer 2019 Graduate Online Pedagogy & Mentorship Workshop on August 5-9, 2019
Faculty currently teaching or planning to teach post-baccalaureate/graduate courses online are strongly encouraged to participate. 

Upon completion of the Workshop, participants will receive a $1500 stipend funded by the Graduate Net Initiative.


Offered in hybrid form, the week-long workshop (approximately 40 hours of engagement) will offer graduate faculty the opportunity to learn, consider, discuss, and implement best practices proven effective in graduate-level online pedagogy and mentorship. Topics to be covered include, but are not limited to:

  • Student and faculty perceptions of online graduate education;
  • Scholarly considerations of graduate-level online pedagogy and mentorship;
  • Comparative considerations of undergraduate vs. graduate online course development;
  • Course development, digital tools, and their deployment;
  • Factors affecting online student success at the graduate level;
  • Student support and mentorship in the online graduate environment.

According to the APM 206 Policies and Procedures on Technology Mediated Courses and Programs, faculty teaching online beyond 20% of the entire course must successfully complete training and go through the appropriate approval process

Making Inclusive Materials a Click Away

Ally is active in both Blackboard and Canvas, constantly scanning content files for accessibility. The instructor feedback will now show in-browser previews for PDFS, Word documents and PowerPoint documents. These previews are then used to identify where in the document specific accessibility issues can be found.
