Create accessible documents and PDFs from Google Docs. With Grackle you can easily pinpoint any accessibility changed that need to be made along with step-by-step instructions on how to make your Google documents more accessible.

This session will give an overview of the latest version of iClicker Reef, the various question types that are available, and potential uses for using this student response system in class.

By exploring different technology integration frameworks, faculty select and adapt appropriate technology that aligns with their pedagogy and course learning outcomes to enhance student engagement. Fall Open Educational Resources Seminars

 

Open Educational Resources (OER) are learning materials that are freely available for use, remixing, and redistribution. 

Wednesday, October 9, 2019 - The OER Syllabus 
The hands-on workshop will provide guidance on developing an OER course syllabus. Participants will receive an overview of relevant information to include in an OER syllabus such as course materials description and definition, requirements, location and access, prerequisite knowledge, use, and restrictions. 

Monday - Friday, October 21, 2019 - October 25, 2019 - Open Access Week

The Center for Faculty Excellence is pleased to invite you to explore and celebrate reducing the cost of course materials for students. Food will be provided at each event for those who register and attend in person. Join our OER Faculty Fellow Dr. Vera Kennedy along with other committed OER librarians and faculty at Fresno State.The event will take place in the Henry Madden Library in room 2134 and you can also attend virtually via Zoom.

Wednesday, November 13, 2019 - Teaching OER 
The session will examine open pedagogy and best practices. Faculty will explore methods for creating authentic experiences, collaborative learning, and humanizing the online environment. 
Lunch will be provided for Faculty who register.

According to the APM 206 Policies and Procedures on Technology Mediated Courses and Programs, faculty teaching online beyond 20% of the entire course must successfully complete training and go through the appropriate approval process

Making Inclusive Materials a Click Away


Ally is active on Canvas, constantly scanning content files for accessibility. The instructor feedback will now show in-browser previews for PDFs, Word documents and PowerPoint documents. These previews are then used to identify where in the document specific accessibility issues can be found.

A screenshot of the new feature in Ally that shows the preview of the document and also highlights the accessibility concerns.

Retention, Tenure & Promotion Workshops 


Welcome Faculty Members to Fall 2019! 
"Faculty Success is Student Success" 
 
Retention, Tenure & Promotion (RTP) workshops will be held during the months of September and October to assist Faculty and Faculty Mentors in developing a Working Personnel Action File (WPAF). The workshops have been designed to guide the Tenure Track Faculty member who would like to learn more about retention, tenure and promotion process from the second year through promotion to full professor. 

Morning, early afternoon and evening 1 hour workshops will be presented by the Office of Faculty Affairs and hosted in the comfort of the Center for Faculty Excellence. 

Registration is requested in lieu of not be mandatory. If you are interested in attending visit the Office of Faculty Affairs Calendar for event dates labeled RTP.

Health and Counseling Center 

 
The Student Health and Counseling Center provides a variety of health and wellness related presentations upon request.
Invite us to present in your classroom. Once your request is submitted, you will be contacted within one week by a member of our Wellness Services Team. We do request a minimum audience of 10 - 15 students to fulfill a request.
