Faculty Learning Community (FLC)  2018-19

Submit a Proposal!

This professional development opportunity will engage and motivate faculty through Project Based Learning (PBL) to gain knowledge and skills by working 2018/19 academic year to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge. If selected, all FLC facilitators will be required to participate in a two-hour FLC seminar in September 2018 and FLC members will be required to showcase your project in a Center for Faculty Excellence public forum in Spring 2019 or Fall 2019.

Graduate Online Pedagogy & Mentorship Workshop 

August 6 - 10, 2018

We are now accepting applications for the Graduate Net Initiative Summer 2018 Graduate Online Pedagogy & Mentorship Workshop! Faculty teaching or planning to teach graduate courses online are strongly encouraged to apply. 

Graduate faculty who successfully complete the workshop will received $1500 as a stipend or professional development funds. 

The deadline to apply is June 1, 2018! 

*Enrollment is limited to 20 participants, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible!

Never fear you are now invited to a FREE faculty and staff Summer Writing Retreat that is self- guided and drop in.

  • Goal settings
  • Comradery of other faculty and staff writers

Career Development in the Classroom!

A recent outcomes survey by graduating seniors showed that many students make decisions on careers based on advice from their faculty.  The Career Development Center is here all summer and can share tips with you on how to embed career development into any course or major.  Each college on campus has a dedicated career liaison/industry specialist who can assist you.

Service-Learning Course Redesign Grant

Apply Now!

The Richter Center is now accepting applications for the 2018 Service-Learning Course Redesign Intensive.  This one-week intensive will take place May 21-25, 2018.  This associated grant provides a $1,500 summer stipend for participating team members and $5,000 grant to the department for successful completion of all requirements.

SEL TIP of the Month

Provide opportunities for “student voice” in your course. Take the time to empathically listen as students share their thinking and views on course topics. Allowing for some student formulated discussions, activities, or projects encourages student ownership and helps create a safe space for honest dialogue.
