Termly News from Development and the Farleigh Society
Spring has sprung...

Farleigh's wonderful carpet of spring daffodils and snowdrops may have emerged earlier than usual this year, due to what Twitter users dubbed, 'WeirdWinter' - but somehow the spring term is already at an end!

The new Music School is our current talking-point, plus we hope that the weather stays kind to us (five clear, mild days is all we ask!) so that the astro-turf's top layer can be glued and finished off. This email has lots more information about the #NewMusicSchool and other up-coming events and projects.

Don't forget that we love to hear from you: You can follow us @FarleighSchool and we find out what's happening here at school by searching for #Farleighlife.

Eleanor Marsden, Director of Development

Paving the way for our Music School

The new Music School is coming on apace! It is really exciting to think that we will soon have this brand new facility up and running - estimated completion is October 2016.

Many people have been asking to see images of the new facility and more information will follow in the Spring 2016 Newsletter (online here, for those of you not on the mailing list), out very soon.  You will also notice some imagery going up around the site, as the project enters its next phase - more on that in the next Farleigh Tree newsletter.

More information will be available in the summer term; in the meantime, if you would like to find out how you could get involved with the final stages of the Music School's progress, please email Eleanor.

A permanent thank you to our Landscape Legacy donors!

We are delighted to say that a new record of donors has been produced in recognition of all those who gave to the Landscape Legacy Fund.  Our Head of Design and Technology, Simon Tween, has kindly created this donor board, situated by the new, younger Farleigh Tree.

Farleigh Society updates:

  • The Farleigh Society Newsletter will be landing on doorsteps imminently.
  • We are working on an online portal where Farleigh Society members will be able to log in to update their details, get back in touch with old friends, access our archive and interact with the school.  More news on this soon!
  • This year's reunion is particularly of interest to 2006 and 1996 leavers.  Come along and meet old friends!  If you do not receive your invitation, please email

Have you completed our Spring questionnaire?

Thank you to everyone who has already completed our Development and Farleigh Society questionnaire.  If you have not yet done so, we would be so grateful if you could spare a couple of minutes to give us your feedback in our quick, two-page questionnaire, available here.

A summary of results will be published in a future Farleigh Tree newsletter... including some wonderful responses to our 'what car' question! (The Volvo XC90 is currently the most popular response!)

Remembering Red Rice School

Do you or your friends and family members know of anyone who attended Red Rice School before it closed and Farleigh School moved in?  If you have any contacts who were educated at Red Rice before 1982, we would love to hear from them. Alumni are very welcome to get in touch and register to attend our events and come back to see the lovely house and grounds today.

Please ask them to email

Sky Sports' Ed Chamberlin:  our next Farleigh Tree speaker!

Ed will be our summer term Farleigh Tree speaker on Wednesday 25th May.

A well-known presenter on Sky Sports, Ed will be giving an insight into life behind the lens... with audience participation not beyond the realms of possibility! Sports fans, aspiring presenters and anyone inspired by stories of beating the odds and following your dream will find Ed's talk time well spent.

All Farleigh Tree talks are free but bookable online here.

Thank you for our new Boston grand piano!

Those of you who attended The Lion King at the end of last term will have heard the first performance of our lovely new Boston Grand Piano, bought by the school after a generous donation from a leaving family last autumn.

The piano is a wonderful addition to the Theatre and will be a great asset to the school for many years to come.

If you know of others in the Farleigh family who would like to stay in touch, please forward them this email and ask them to contact us with their up-to-date contact details.
