WEEKLY NOTES May 12, 2022

Dear Friends:
There is something about watching children sing that automatically uplifts my heart.  And when they are singing words that teach and praise God, it is even better.  And...when they are having FUN doing so, working hard and feeling proud of themselves - that is the best of all!  Want to experience this same heart-lift?  Come and support our kids@ART musical presentation of In The Image on Wednesday, May 18.  We will be serving a free spaghetti dinner (doors open at 5:30 p.m. - the kids will be rehearsing up to that point) and enjoying fellowship together before the music starts at 6:30 p.m.  Sign up today!

I have, of course, been thinking much about the pastoral transition here at Saint Paul's and wondering what I could do - what we could do now to help the transition along.  I have already invited you to share notes and cards of welcome and encouragement with Pastor Latricia.  This week, I want us to focus on ONE THING we can do now....and that is to pray.   Add to your daily prayers Pastor Latricia and her family, and for our church family as well - I believe that this one action will go a long way to easing the transition.

A second thing you can do in July when Rev. Scriven arrives is to be diligent to wear your name tag on Sunday morning - you have one new face/new name to learn...she has MANY!  As one pastor suggested:
wear name tags—and keep doing that—every Sunday—for the rest of your life—until Jesus comes back—forever and ever, Amen.

This Saturday we say our gathered good bye to Bruce Harter as we celebrate a life of courage and service.  I hope that you are planning to attend his memorial service on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. in our Sanctuary.  A reception will follow in Sanders Hall.  Bruce was a source of inspiration to so many in the way that he lived his life, and he is already greatly missed.  I am grateful that we hold on to a faith that allows us to rejoice in resurrection and eternal life even in the midst of our physical death.  I know that this is a great comfort for me, and I pray it is for all of us.

Blessings and peace,
Kandace

WORSHIP WITH US ON SUNDAY

This week, we look at what is undoubtedly the best-known Psalm, even outside of faith circles...Psalm 23, a Song of COMFORT.  What brings you comfort when life becomes unsettled?  There are loads of potential responses here, and it would be fascinating to compile a list!

At our 11:00 a.m. service this week we will celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism and welcome members of the Saint Andrew's Society for the Kirkin' of the Tartans.

Join us at either 8:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m. for worship this week!
