A Message from Pastor Kandace

September 5, 2019
Dear Friends;

What do you think about when you hear the word ‘justice’?  Do you think about punishment, restitution or restoration? Or do you think about things such as equality and fairness?  When you read that God is a just God, what images are brought to mind?  This Sunday we continue our exploration of the essential teachings of Jesus by looking at this topic of justice.  I am finding, and I hope you are too, that the discussion of the teachings of Jesus are simply incarnations of the character of God…what it truly means to be created in and operate from, our divine image.  I hope you will plan to be with us in worship – and I encourage you, if you are not already – to connect with one of our wonderful Sunday School classes.  We will be happy to get you connected to the right class for you, or feel free to visit several before making up your mind!

We will be receiving new members into the church on Sunday, September 29 as we celebrate together with one service at 9:30 a.m.  Please let me know if this is a decision you have made – we would love to receive you with joy!

We had a great start to our four week class We are the Church TOGETHER.  There is still time to join us, next Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. in Sanders Hall!

I look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

SPARKS Wednesdays this year will have some extra BAM! in our program!  Heroes of the Bible will be our theme!

The Heroes of the Bible accomplished amazing things by God’s power and for God’s glory.  Through faith in the all-powerful Creator, these heroes performed jaw-dropping miracles, conquered mighty armies and ruled nations.  They defeated giants, toppled towering city walls, and raised the dead.  They wrote books of the Bible, started churches worldwide, and proclaimed the good new of God’s salvation, even in the face of death.  These heroes rocked!  These heroes were normal people and it’s not who you are that matters to God, it’s what you allow him to do through you.  As the Bible says, by faith you can moved mountains (Matthew 17:20).

We hope your K-5th kids and their friends (please invite them!) will join us for some BAM ~ Bible Chat, Art and Music!  Our first day of SPARKS is Sept 4.  And, put on your calendar our special Advent multi-media program, “The Christmas Scene Revisited,” will be presented by the kids on December 11.
