...so that, united with Him in His sufferings, we may share His risen life

Dear friends,

This is the invitation of Holy Week, which we hear at the start of the Procession of Palms on Palm Sunday: Let us go with Him in faith and love, so that, united with Him in His sufferings, we may share His risen life.

Holy Week is the heart of the Christian year. Please join us this week as we share in Christ's Passion and Death, so that we may know the true joy of His Resurrection. You are very welcome. Here we learn all that it means to acknowledge Him as our Way, our Truth and our Life.  I suppose no soul of any sensitiveness can live through Holy Week without an awed and grateful sense of being incorporated in a mystery of self-giving love which yet remains far beyond our span.

'See, his hands and feet are fastened: so he makes his people free.'
Here is some of the beautiful music which we will be using in our worship this Holy Week.  Click the poster to read more!
Tomorrow at 6.30pm Stainer's much-loved 'The Crucifixion' will be sung as a Holy Week devotion.  It lasts just over an hour.  Bring your friends.  All are welcome to sing in the chorus: click the poster above for details.
The addresses at the Eucharist (8pm) on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will be given by our three retired assistant priests, Canon Martin Smith, Prebendary Sue Strutt and Canon Bob Baker.  After the Eucharist coffee will be served in the Hall until Compline begins at 9.15pm, or you’re encouraged to use the time for silent prayer in the church.
On Tuesday we’ll wrap up the Lent study series by gathering at 7pm for an hour before the evening Eucharist to informally discuss our reflections on the five talks in the series and our own experiences of ‘Faith at Work’.
This is the night!  At the Easter Vigil on Saturday (8pm), the music includes Mozart's Missa Brevis in D and Handel's Hallelujah Chorus, and an Easter party follows the Liturgy.  Come and share the most powerful service of the year: a journey from death to newness of life.
In addition to all the services listed above, Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer will be prayed in St Mary's every day, as usual, at 8.45am and 5pm.  The church will be open from 8.30am to 9.30pm every day for prayer and devotion.
