Review of the year

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year!  Your Clergy and Church Officers wish you all God's blessings and prosperity in all the things that matter in the Year of Our Lord 2018 - and we look forward to everything in store.  It's been quite year in Attleborough and Besthorpe: click here to see a short video with just a taste of what we've been up to!
Review of the year: 2017
Christmas isn't over - we're only five days into it, and we'd love to see you in church this Sunday as we continue to celebrate.  It'll also be a good chance to give thanks for the past year and pray for God's blessings on 2018.  The Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at St Mary's at 8am and 10am (with carols and children's activities).  After the Parish Eucharist there'll be sparkling wine to celebrate the Christmas Octave.  There's also an Informal Service with carols in Besthorpe at 11.30am.
Last Sunday St Mary's Sunday Club performed the Nativity story for us during the Parish Eucharist.  Click here to see some photos from the play!
We'll be celebrating the beautiful Feast of the Epiphany on its eve, Twelfth Night: Friday 5 January.  There'll be a Sung Eucharist at 7.30pm with the choir, incense, Epiphany carols and a sermon.  An Epiphany Party with punch and cake will follow in the Hall.  Come and join us to celebrate this holy day.
Children and young people are a valued part of our Church Family.  Here are all the dates for Sunday Club during the coming term.  On other Sundays there are supervised children's activities at the back of the church.  There's also Messy Church on Saturday 20 January and Saturday 17 March, both at 9.30am.
A prayer at the Crib

Devoutly we approach your cradle, O Lord, to find the one of whom the prophets spoke, and here behold the mighty God of thunders lying helpless on the straw.  O grant us some of this humility, that we may conquer mightily the reign of sin within us.  Bless us this Christmastide, and bring us with Mary, your Mother and ours, to sing your praises with the angels in heaven; where with the Father and the Holy Spirit you live and reign, one God, now and for ever.  Amen.
Our children's Epiphany Party takes place on the feast itself, Saturday 6 January, from 2.30 to 4.30pm.  All children connected with St Mary's are warmly invited for games, food and fun.  During the afternoon they will make a visit to the Crib in church.  If possible, let Marion Dawe know if you're planning to come.
Sunday 7 January, the Sunday after the Epiphany, is the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord.  At the 10am Parish Eucharist we will renew our baptismal promises and be sprinkled with water from the font.  Our guest preacher at that service will be the Revd Dr Melanie Marshall, Chaplain of Lincoln College, Oxford.
The men of St Mary's will have their annual Epiphany Dinner on Wednesday 10 January at the White Lodge, 7pm for 7.30pm.  Everyone's welcome.  Book your place and menu choices via Paul Andrew before Wednesday 3 January.
