Welcome to Green Element Monthly

Welcome to the February edition of Green Element Monthly. In this catch up we will help you understand what the latest legal challenges there are for you. We have an interesting article on P272: New balancing and settlement legislation for electricity meters – what you need to do and when? (please if you need any help on this do talk to us - it is important). If you would like to talk to our MD about any of the articles or just want a chat; you can access his diary for a 20 minute chat here.

We'd also love to hear from you if you have anything you would like to contribute to future editions and please do let us know what you think! We have written a number of case studies for our own internal use on all of our clients if you are one of them and would like to be featured please  contact us here.

We finish up with a video of a gentleman from Israel that has just completed a final round of funding for his 'Cardboard' Bike. Amazing stuff - It's cheap ($20), eco-friendly and, most importantly, it's waterproof.

On a
separate note our MD Will Richardson is speaking at Norton Rose on the new Sustainable Development Goals set in New York on the back of COP 21. If you would like to attend please do contact us here.

Wishing you all a great February,

The Green Element Team

Why Solar is Always a Good Investment for Your Business

This regulatory change means that those businesses with meter profile classes 05, 06, 07 or 08 need to upgrade to half-hourly settled electricity.  From 5 November 2015, those businesses with meters in profile classes 05-08 who already have accredited, automated half-hourly meters installed on site will be migrated to half-hourly settlement within 45 days of contract renewal.

By 1st April 2017, those businesses without AMRs already installed will need to have made the move over to half-hourly settled meters.

The benefits will be better data quality and the ability to analyse and reduce your energy use. To read more please click here.

Case Study
adam&eveDDB is a worldwide communications agency based in London.

They were aware of global environmental issues as long ago as 2005, and a group of like-minded tree-huggers set up a number of initiatives to reduce their impact on the climate.
Legal side

Two future changes for 2016 have been highlighted this month. This month Green Element has focused on the Treasury-led consultation back in November 2015 on improving the effectiveness of measures to improve business energy efficiency. As businesses are often quite confused with which scheme they need to report on (e.g. ESOS, Climate Change Levy (CCL), Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) etc.), one of the proposals was to consolidate these into a single tax and reporting scheme. Lighter side
How about this for a way to have more people riding bikes around the world? A bike for approximately $20? You could brand up loads of bikes? In the meantime a partner of ours; Foffa Bikes would be able to help you on this journey. We would be able to put you in touch with them.
