This Week at the Latino Academy of Workforce Development

Latino Academy Staff Participates in ACT 13 Bike Ride
Latino Academy staff members created the team "Esperanza Latina" for the ACT 13 Wisconsin AIDS ride this past weekend, August 1-3. The team was created in order to generate awareness of HIV/AIDS within the Latino Community. The Wisconsin AIDS ride raised more than $180,000 for HIV/AIDS research and participants biked over 300 miles.
Bilingual Construction Program Featured on Talk of the Town
The Latino Academy's Bilingual Construction Program will be featured this week on CW 57's Talk of the Town. Guests in the segment include Director Baltazar De Anda Santana, and student Marisol who graduated from the Bilingual Construction Program this July.

Testimonios de Estudiantes - Marisol
Latino Academy student Marisol shares her experience (in Spanish) as part of the Bilingual Construction Program. 11 students participated in this three-week program, spending two weeks in the classroom learning job-related skills, and one week with Stevens Construction Corp. practicing hands-on skills at real job sites. 10 of the 11 students were offered new, full-time employment and the 11th will be continuing her education at Madison College.
