Some 160 NYU Shanghai students spent an afternoon immersed in cultural activities for Chinese Lantern Festival, including traditional paper cutting and Chinese character painting at the annual Yuanxiao Fair.
After hours of intensive programming, NYU Shanghai sophomore Chelsea Polanco and her team created a pseudo alcohol-sensing device that might effectively curb drunk driving. Their efforts landed them first prize in a hackathon early in January.

Parents Newsletter invited Qiling Zhang, a parent of a student from the Class of 2018, to share his story about creating the “NYU Shanghai Global Parents Union ”.
The purpose of creating this official account is very simple: We want to witness the growth of a special university and our children who were brave enough to choose it. For over two years, the Parents Union has gathered the support of 600 parents from 400 families. Through frequent interactions both online and offline, parents are communicating with each other, sharing life stories, making friends and improving themselves.
