Open Borders and Open Minds

On March 7, NYU Shanghai Art Gallery opened the first exhibition of 2017 - “Borders: Us and Them,” which probes the transformation of contemporary global borders and their socio-political implications. Some 100 art enthusiasts wandered the borders of art in virtual landscapes.

  • Earlier this week, Green Shanghai installed a solar panel charging station in the 2F cafe for anyone to come charge their dying phones and laptops. According to Nofar Hamrany '18, this is just the first stage of a series of solar panel based projects that will be popping up around campus.

  • And earlier today, IMA students showed off their smart gadgets at the “Stupid Pet Trick” show--a campus challenge to create simple, physically interactive devices using basic skills learned in class. Among the showcase were dancing dumpling emoticons and hand sweat detecting devices. See the gallery here.

Next week Green Shanghai presents NYU Shanghai’s first Zero Waste Week, challenging community members to sign up, collect and notice their waste usage over the week--complete with DIY workshops for making your own lip balm and lotion, a Quizbowl edition with questions about waste, a swap party and other events.

Beginning March 13, the electronic access control system of the Residence Area will start operating. Don’t forget to tap your Campus Card on the NYU Shanghai card reader at the gate, which is stamped with a red NYU Shanghai logo, to unlock the door!

Show off your talents and kindness at the DSS Talent Show! The Dean's Service Scholars of New Hope Cambodia and The Chi Feng Foundation will be holding an NYU Shanghai Talent Show on March 16! Don’t hesitate!! RSVP here.
