Botello welcomes educators across the nation as AVID demonstration site

Felix G. Botello Elementary School opens their doors as a leading AVID campus site to educators across the nation. Visitors will have the opportunity learn top practices from their campus culture while experiencing the effective integration of AVID’s student-centered curriculum. Students at Botello co-designed a personalized learning plan, which includes student-led parent-teacher conferences, assessment of strengths and challenges, and development of communication skills. This encourages them to think about long-term goals and take ownership of their daily tasks.

More Info:

AVID is a nonprofit organization that teaches students how to succeed in college by implementing study techniques, such as the cornell note-taking method, which trains young minds to write easily retainable and concise information. AVID’s mission is to close the achievement gap and to ensure that students are empowered by educators with passion to change the way that they teach in order to reach those who learn differently.
