From NYC!
Mike Davis & The New Wonders

- - - - -
Wed, January 22, 8 - 11 ... $10 at the door

The Rambling House, 310 E Hudson St, Cbus

We're thrilled to bring the nationally acclaimed NYC trad jazz band Mike Davis & The New Wonders to Columbus! Come on out and catch this great band whose growing reputation in their New York City home now has them on tour.
Read Michael Steinman of Jazz Lives writing about them here.

Check the band out doing "The Best Things in Life are Free" -

In addition to his own band Mike appears regularly around NY with Dandy Wellington and his band, Emily Asher's Garden Party, Glenn Crytzer, Terry Waldo, Baby Soda, Dan Levinson, and many other traditional jazz and swing bands, and is a regular at the legendary late-night jam at Mona's.
Exquisite attention to musical detail ... deep passion for the original recordings. Named for the model of cornet played by the enigmatic genius Bix Beiderbecke, the New Wonders craft each song as if it were a 78 rpm record, and the result has been praised by Downbeat Magazine, the NY Times, + the Wall St Journal, who calls Mike an “eloquent trumpet prodigy.

Save your carbon credits + see them right here in O-H-I-O for just $10 bucks.

Check the map for parking, and if you could use a hand with parking please email us ahead or catch us at the door and we'll gladly help.

An informal and swinging open social dance and open bandstand for people to give it a shot playing, dancing, or both - like this from a recent one:

Always plenty of people happy to share and help with steps, songs, and techniques.. All up + down the learning curve, students to pro's, people picking it back up after years, everybody in between. It's always a wonderfully wide spread of age, experience, and perspective, and others hanging around, catching up, swinging out, and just checking it out.

Bring your instrument if you would like to join us on the bandstand (and bring a couple lead sheets if you have a song you want to share). Or bring your dancing shoes if you'd like to come and social dance. Or both, why not?

Excellent craft soda and beers + some other beverages. Pizza + subs across the street and Rambling House is totally OK if you bring food in. Bring your own ... bring some extra + share it around!

Hit up our Learn+Play It page for tips on how this works, links to the Creole Jazz Band's fake books (concert pitch, Bb, and Eb), lead sheets, circle of 4th's, and more. Some people bring their own Real Dixieland Book (concert, Bb, and NEW Eb - check or Stantons).
