Let’s help those affected by floods
At present our country has been affected by continuous rain following landslides and floods which has caused an enormous disasters and inconvenience to the people’s lives and properties.
At such situations our Prophet Muhammed (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) has been remarkably involved in supplications, prayers and forgiveness. Therefore, the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama fraternally requests all to seek forgiveness from the Almighty, while getting involved in seeking love & mercy through constant prayers requesting to remove the unpleasant climate existing throughout the country. All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama also requests all its District and Divisional Branches to get into action in order to support the victims of the situation, while requesting the Trustees of Masjids to cooperate with them.

Those who wish to contribute through the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama are requested to deposit their funds to the following Bank account. On the forthcoming Fridays 20.05.2016 & 27.05.2016, we request to collect the relief funds in cash and deposit to the following Bank account and inform us via 0117-490490.

Under the project "Transforming Every Child" the ACJU Education Division organized Booster Classes for the A/L Students of Fathima Muslim Ladies College, on 13th and 17th of May and Booster classes for Grade 5 students of Al Hijra Maha Vidyalaya on the 13th and 14th of May.

The ACJU had their Executive Committee Meeting and Central Committee Meeting at the ACJU Head office on the 15th of May.

Representatives of the ACJU Social Service Division and Colombo District Branch along with other Muslim organizations met with Mr. M. H. A. Haleem Minister of Muslim Religious Affairs and Posts regarding the relief efforts to the people affected by the flood, on the 17th of May.

Under the project "Transforming Every Child" the ACJU Education Division organized Academic Motivational Program for the A/L students of Al Hamza Maha Vidyalaya conducted by Education Consultant Mr. Namees on the 17th of May.

The ACJU Islamic Economics and Finance Division organized Baithul Zakath Donors Program on the 18th of May. They also organized Baithul Zakath Awareness program at Thihariya on the same date.

ACJU Flood Relief Efforts
  • ACJU had an urgent meeting to organize and coordinate relief efforts for the flood affected people and relief teams were divided into groups and sent to many flood affected areas.
  • Following areas were visited and flood relief was coordinated by the ACJU Relief Teams - Wellampitiya, Kaduwela, Malwana, Molawatta, Nawagampura 1, Nawagampura 2, Tamil Nadu Sedawatta, Kannathota, Awissawella and other affected places.
  • Arranged and Coordinated boat services to assist the people at Wellampitya.
  • Female counselors from Careline were appointed to obtain details and to offer counseling for the affected people who are currently residing at schools.
  • Portable toilets are being arranged in the affected areas.
  • ACJU Galle District Branch is arranging dry ration to supply to the affected people in Malwana.
  • ACJU Rathnapura District Branch is doing Flood Relief work at Awissawela.
  • ACJU Kandy District Branch involving in assisting the victims of landslide at Kadugannawa.
  • ACJU Kegalle District Branch involving in assisting the victims of landslide at Aranayake.

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri and Abu Huraira (Radiyallahu 'Anhuma):

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "No fatigue, nor disease, nor sorrow, nor sadness, nor hurt, nor distress befalls a Muslim, even if it were the prick he receives from a thorn, but that Allah expiates some of his sins for that."
