LIBRARY REDESIGN
Over the course of the next 2 years, we will be completely redesigning our library space and create a Learning Commons.  This is a student led project, and we will be assisting them through the Design Process to create a space that encompasses whole group, small group, and individual learning; and incorporates innovation, design, and creativity into learning. To view more on the process as it unfolds visit http://hes.svvsd.org/node/152031

Our Mascot Has a Name
All classes had a chance to submit names for our new hawk mascot, and then every student in Kindergarten through 5th grade voted through Google Forms in the Computer Lab. Our new mascot is named...Lightning! Thanks to all who voted.

ART NEWS

In the art room, fifth grade continues to progress on their video game designs.  We are hoping to make 3D models of our video game characters to accompany our games!  Fourth graders have been practicing proportion by making self portraits.  1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade have been using technology to merge traditional and modern art mediums together.  Check out Schoology to see your 1st and 2nd grader "in" their drawings! Kinders are discovering the science of how watercolor paint "resists" oil pastel as they create colorful mixed-media artwork!
