School Updates
March 31, 2021
Dear PHAmily,

I can’t believe that tomorrow is April 1st and it’s not a joke that we’ve enthusiastically begun to safely reopen our doors. Over the past two weeks, we’ve warmly welcomed back students as well as faculty and staff at our Early Childhood and Upper Elementary campuses. The smiling eyes and mask-covered noses & mouths of our younger students have brought immense joy to our community.

Without the tireless efforts of our K-12 leaders and especially our TEACHERS to design & execute concurrent lesson plans, our positive experiences in balanced in-person and remote learning would not be possible. THANK YOU teachers for your abundance of energy, creativity, agility, ingenuity, and of course, flexibility! To that end, we extend tremendous gratitude to our families who showered our teachers with welcome back goodie bags!

We look forward to welcoming back middle school students in early May! Meanwhile, PHA let’s collaboratively keep rising to the occasion to begin the restoration of our vibrant in-person school community.

All the best,

Angela F. Allen

Family Updates
On March 23, 2021, in response to the recent increase in anti-Asian attacks, Dr. Allen, Head of School and Karen Shmukler, Associate Head of School sent the following communication to the PHA Community.
COVID-19 Vaccine PSA

PHA Head of School Dr. Angela Allen and Sherley Bretous, Executive Director of Benjamin Banneker Charter Public School, collaborated on a COVID-19 vaccine PSA and share why they got vaccinated. Check it out!

Trust the FACTS. Get the VAX. Keep schools safe.
Pooled Testing: What Should I Expect?

Pooled testing involves mixing several individuals’ test samples together into one “pool” and then testing the pooled sample for COVID-19. This approach increases the number of individuals that can be tested at one time and allows us to efficiently, sustainably, and regularly test our school community for COVID-19.

Pooled testing will allow PHA to test all members of the PHA community, including students, on a more regular basis. Each student K-12 will be tested once per week. This more frequent and more efficient testing ensures that we can consistently monitor and respond to any presence of COVID-19 in the school community.

PHA Health Screening Assessment

Reminder: Please complete the Daily Student Health At Home Screening Form for each of your children who attend Prospect Hill Academy each morning. The form must be submitted between the hours of 6:45am and 7:45am. Put the QR code on your fridge, phone, or other convenient place for easy access, and complete screening before leaving your home.

EC and UE Changing Learning Preferences Update

Families may request to change their learning preferences at designated intervals with requisite notice.

Remote to In-Person:
The interval to change from remote to in-person will be after April school vacation to begin attending in-person on Wednesday April 28th, after baseline testing on Monday April 26th. Please notify your  campus administrative assistant of this request by Monday April 12th.

Changes from remote to in-person learning may be contingent on current metrics and the need to take spacing requirements into considerations for all in-person requests.

In extenuating circumstances, post April vacation requests from remote to in-person learning will be made on a case-by-case.

In-Person to Remote:

Families may may request to change from in-person to remote at any time. We request at least a 3 day notification of this change, wherever possible.

Students who have selected in-person learning do not have the option to switch back and forth and  use remote learning unless they are at home due to a PHA quarantine for close contact or COVID-19 positive test or symptoms.

To request a change, please submit the forms below:
