PAPER TOWELS NEEDED!
Once again, our school is in need of paper towels to clean the cafeteria tables. Please send some rolls in with your child and drop them off in the office. In the past, families have just picked up an extra package while shopping at Costco or another store. Alternatively, you can go on Amazon, via our link, and order the towels to be delivered directly to the school. Better yet, you can make it a recurring monthly order so that the school is always stocked!

INTERNATIONAL DAY IS ON
NOVEMBER 3
International Day is right around the corner. Forms and information were sent home in last week's Tuesday Folders. This is a wonderful event where Freedom Hill celebrates its diversity with a parade where children dress in the attire of their culture and students get to sample food from all over the world.
Please consider donating a PEANUT-FREE dish that celebrates your culture. The committee also needs volunteers to help set up, clean up, and serve food. Sign up here. For more information, here is the flyer about the Luncheon. Here is the flyer about Food Guidelines. And here is the form you can use to label your contribution.
Questions? E-mail Christy Erwin
Would your student like to represent his or her country in the parade? There is still time to sign up! Here is the flyer about the Parade.
Questions? E-mail Yelena Pedan or Gigi Khonyongwa-Fernandez

FAIRFAX COUNTY MEALS TAX
In the November 8 General Election, Fairfax County Voters will be asked to vote YES or NO on a meals tax question. The question asks voters to allow the Board of Supervisors to impose a 4 percent meals tax on certain prepared foods, which would be paid by residents, commuters and tourists. If the majority of voters approve the meals tax, the Board of Supervisors would dedicate the revenues to two purposes. First, 70% of the net revenues would be dedicated to Fairfax County Public Schools. Second, 30% of the net revenues would be dedicated to County services, capital improvements and property tax relief. If approved by voters, the meals tax is estimated to generate approximately $99 million in the first year - with 28% of that amount coming from non-county residents.
Please help us to:
* Keep the best teachers
* Reduce class sizes
* Preserve school programs like foreign language immersion, music, and sports
* Invest in our parks and repair our playgrounds
* Expand library hours and services
* Invest in public health and public safety
* Achieve property tax relief
A few pennies will go a long way to improve and protect our quality of life.
Join us and vote YES on November 8.
