AY MARIPOSA WORLD PREMIERE

Not quite two years ago, our executive director, Marianna, found government contractors tearing up the National Butterfly Center. We had no advance notice, they had no legal authority, and she was threatened by Border Patrol when she protested, but we have persisted. Last week, our community got the chance to review Ay Mariposa, a film that tells our story, along with the story of Zulema Hernandez, a Mexican immigrant and farm worker’s rights activist, and of course, the butterfly.

The film makes its world premiere at the DOCLANDS Documentary Film Festival this Saturday, May 4, in San Rafael, California. It will be introduced by our friend and very special guest, Julia Butterfly Hill. If you're in the San Francisco area, please attend and tell your friends! Click here to buy tickets here.

FESTIVAL REGISTRATION OPENS WEDNESDAY

HOWDY! The Texas Butterfly Festival website has been updated with this year's host hotel, guides and field trips, and registration will open WEDNESDAY, MAY 1.

NOTE: Trips will sell out. Each is limited to approximately 20 people; so, check it out, confer with your companion(s), select your itinerary and register early.

We have new destinations, workshops and special guests. PLUS, our keynote speaker is Ann Johnson Prum, of Sex, Lies & Butterflies, and American Spring Live, a televised 3-night event which premiered last night.

We can't wait to see you this November 2 - 5, 2019!

IN MEMORIAM: RIO GRANDE

Looking for something to do this Memorial Day weekend?

Why not camp out at the National Butterfly Center, join an art build and participate in a highly-stylized protest of all we stand to lose to border walls?

Join us for this historic ceremony to memorialize the Rio Grande River and all of the natural and community treasures facing this existential threat.  For developing details, follow the event on Facebook. We’ll be posting information for May 25- 26, 2019 and look forward to including you!
