2015 brought us the Red-sided Swallowtail, Dusted Spurwing, Yucatan Skipper, Yellow-tipped Flasher, Black Hairstreak and Blue-studded Skipper; then, on Christmas Eve, a pristine Guatemalan Cracker. These remarkable sightings are going to be hard to beat in 2016, but we’re hopeful. The gardens are growing and our Nursery is seeding thousands of plants for the 4.6 acre Texas Savannah Trails Ayenia Refugium (TEXSTAR) and the Southernmost Monarch Waystation.
We invite you to visit often to monitor the progress of your project, and encourage you to be a part of one of our volunteer planting days. Texas Butterfly Festival 2016 Dates & Deets
This year, the 21st Annual Texas Butterfly Festival will be held Saturday, October 29 – Tuesday, November 1, 2016. This very special event will also serve as the NABA Biennial Members’ Meeting. If you are not already a NABA member, this is the time to join! Your membership entitles you to attend the festival in 2016, gets you subscriptions to American Butterflies and Butterfly Gardener magazines, and supports the NABA counts, data collection, advocacy and all we do at the National Butterfly Center.
