We love our members and volunteers, and want to show you some much-deserved appreciation! Today, we will enter the names of all current National Butterfly Center members and volunteers into a drawing for a pair of Pentax Papilio close-focus binoculars.
If you haven’t joined or renewed, today is the day to do it! We’ll draw the winner at NOON CST, on Wednesday, and post it to our Facebook page because we’re lucky to have you!
Will your Passion Live On?
One of the best parts of my job is receiving calls, emails and cards from people who are thinking about leaving a gift to us, for the love of butterflies. Sometimes these conversations involve lots of questions from both sides about our needs and your wants; other times, it’s very simple and goes something like, “I love the center and all you’re doing. It’s one of my favorite places on Earth and I want to help you keep it up! Someday I’ll be gone, but I want to know that what I leave behind matters and will help make the world a better place.”
This week, that conversation took place with Cheryl C., who gave me permission to share her words, with all of you:
Everyone should have at least one passion in their lives–mine is butterflies!
Life hands us lessons daily and over the past four years my life lessons have taught me to embrace your passion. Do what makes you happy.
So in my estate planning, I wanted to ensure my passion was carried on. I decided to make the National Butterfly Center my beneficiary.
I hope the impact of my gift will provide the NBC the ability to continue providing a habitat for these beautiful, unique, free, floating gifts from God, educate the public (we can all learn something new every day) and continue their mission.
So remember, “NEVER SETTLE FOR ANYTHING LESS THAN BUTTERFLIES!”
Cheryl C.
This Valentine’s Day
Are you stumped for a gift your sweetheart or yourself this Valentine’s Day? You can still give your beloved butterflies! Have you considered a membership to the National Butterfly Center, where one may find flowers all year long? Or how ‘bout a gift certificate for plants or seeds from our native plant nursery, so you may grow your own? Purchase your gift certificate online, and we’ll notify your recipient via email—just provide their email address for the alert, and their mailing address for the gift. It’s quick, easy and super sweet!
Save the Date
The dates of next year’s Texas Butterfly Festival will be Saturday, Nov. 4 – Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, so make plans to attend! As has been the case for the last couple of years, the annual Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival will begin Wednesday or Thursday of the same week which means visitors may choose to come, play and stay for all of the festivities!
We’ll post updates about the festival to the Texas Butterfly Festival website and Facebook page, so make sure to check back in late February, for more information.
