Calling all current or former VITA volunteers!
The Bed-Stuy site will become a VITA site for 2016.
VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is a program set up by the IRS to help low income filers prepare returns for free, but they have certain requirements that differ from CTA's process.
For example:
1. VITA requires all volunteers to pass tests. Training materials are provided.
2. All returns must be e-filed.
3. VITA has its own checklist, and the taxpayers will need to fill it out themselves.
If you are a Former VITA preparer, you may prefer the Bed-Stuy location. Please contact generalinfo@communitytaxaidnyc.org for more information.
