St. Vrain Valley Schools remains committed to providing postsecondary college and career opportunities that will give students a strong competitive advantage for their future. To this end, St. Vrain is providing the 2020-2021 National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) on October 29, 2020. Each high school will administer the PSAT/NMSQT to all 11th grade students in person.

Thursday, October 29, 2020 will be an asynchronous day of learning at home for students in grades 9, 10, and 12.

Due to last year’s PSAT 10 exams cancellation because of the coronavirus health crisis, the Colorado Department of Education is sponsoring the NMSQT. The PSAT/NMSQT is an opportunity for students to compete for over $30 million in college scholarships, and is an important step in preparing for the SAT exam that will be administered in the spring of their junior year.

If you have any questions about this calendar change or how to help your student prepare for the NMSQT, please contact our counseling office.

AP Exam Registration

The AP® Program recently introduced new resources and processes designed to help students earn college credit and placement. Here’s what you and your student need to know:

  • Students will register for AP Exams in the fall; the payment window will be open from October 5 to November 9, 2020. Register today at http://stvrain.revtrak.net.
  • AP Exams will continue to be given in May.
  • There will be an additional $40 fee for registrations after November 9th.
  • Students get personalized feedback through new digital tools that provide daily support for every AP classroom. Teachers will be able to track performance throughout the year using monthly personal progress checks.

Please encourage your student to sign up for a College Board account. All College Board programs are connected through one account, so if a student created one for the PSAT/NMSQT®, SAT®, or College Board Opportunity Scholarships, they’re all set. They’ll just need to have their username and password available.

Learn more at parents.collegeboard.org.

If you have any questions, please reach out to NHS AP Coordinator Leah Messinger at messinger_leah@svvsd.org.

On time May 2021 IB exam registration ends on 10/15/20 and Late Fees begin on 11/2/20.

All NHS IB students enrolled in any IB course culminating in May 2021 are required to submit their IB exam registration to the NHS IB Coordinator: towlen_elzbieta@svvsd.org
