This academic term is like no other and has been filled with new challenges and accomplishments. Thanks to the perseverance, dedication and adaptability of our incredible team, we have adjusted, grown and are stronger for it. We have been able to connect with students in new ways and have innovatively taken NC virtual, and into the homes of our students and partners like never before. We have truly exemplified NC DNA – welcoming, trailblazing and passionate. It has not been without its challenges and uncertainties, but we can think of no better team to consistently rise to the occasion to find creative solutions to support students from around the world still achieve their dreams amidst a global pandemic. We are truly thankful for all that you have done and continue to do. #NCProud #NCTogether

Thank you for 20 years of excellent work Nancy!

Nancy Connelly retires after 20 years!

"This Friday, September 18th will mark Nancy Connelly’s last day in the “office”.  As our administrative assistant in International Student Services for the past 7 years, Nancy has seen our department double in staff and the grand opening of 2 enviable International Centres.  Prior to her time in international, Nancy worked as a Test Centre Coordinator, in Workforce Development, and if anyone can remember this, stationed at the GM plant in St. Catharines to support their training initiatives.

Nancy has exhibited a strong NCDNA and takes pride in being a member of Niagara College.  It is no coincidence that her initials are “NC”!   During Nancy’s leave in 2016, staff across the college continued to regularly be in touch with Nancy always checking in on her and thinking of her.  She has made a lasting impact on countless individuals as the welcome to their employment with our team and as an amazing listener with a comforting nature. Her handle of “Mama Bear” will always be reserved for her and we wish her the very best"
- Shawna Luey

“I worked with Nancy when I first started at NC and over the last seven years as we learned more about one another and adapted to our new roles at Niagara College, she has become not only my colleague but a valued life-long friend”
- Howard Slaney

MESSAGES

A Message from President Sean Kennedy: Thank you

As the first week of the Fall term draws to a close, I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for contributing to the successful launch of the new academic year, as we welcomed close to 9,000 students to virtual and on-campus classrooms and labs.

This start of term is unlike any other we have ever experienced, and it represents more than five months of hard work, as we’ve all pivoted, adapted and persevered through the spring and summer to provide our students with the opportunity to pursue and achieve their academic goals in a very different learning environment.

A Message from Dave Taylor: Final Farewell

During my career at Niagara College I have worked in many areas, and coming back to International to work with the team there was an easy decision.  As I finish this assignment as Acting SVP International, I reflect on the amazing last 6 months.  When I agreed to take on the role in February, little did I know what was looming just over the horizon.  The significant organizational and personal challenges everyone has faced over the last few months have pulled back the curtain on many issues, as well as provided insights to opportunities and tested the character and innovation of many.  I am proud to say that Niagara College International rose to the occasion and worked together to tackle every obstacle that was placed in their path.  Not only with creative solutions and ingenuity, but with the passion and pride that define a very distinguished group of people.

Thank you to everyone for their hard work, cooperation, creativity, and dedication to our students, the college, and most of all to one another.   Building the same type of relationship and trust between International and all college departments will be the task ahead as Niagara College will need a synergistic approach to use its combined resources to solve problems, compete effectively in a new environment, and meet the needs of students, staff, and community.  I will be watching with extreme interest in the journey ahead for NC International as the world changes and the team adapts and grows to prosper within international education’s new global reality.

Wishing you all the best,

Dave Taylor

A Message from NC Quarantine Team

Quarantine Inquiries

As many of you are aware, for the Fall term, in accordance with immigration regulations, we are welcoming some new International students to Canada and Niagara College.  As part of their entry to Canada, international students are required to complete a 14 Day Quarantine period upon arrival.  Niagara College is fully managing the quarantine planning and execution for our incoming International students and this work is being coordinated by Maxine Semple, Manager, Cultural and Global Engagement with the help of her team and several others around the International division.

For any inquires related to quarantine planning, visa validation, self-isolation plan approval, or NC quarantine registration please forward along to the new email address ncquarantine@niagaracollege.ca. All communications related to quarantine are being centralized with this new inbox and managed by Maxine and her team.

Kindest regards,
Maxine
